Hey all,

So here is what happened. I just updated my XBMC and was messing for with some files via FlashFXP and deleted what I thought was a copy of old XBMC files. Apparently that wasn't the case my XBMC shut down.

So here is what I've figured out, I have my SmartXX autobooting XBMC but now that I messed up the files it is booting nothing. The problem is I can't FTP when it tries to load XBMC or when it first flashes the SmartXX screen.

I am not really sure what to do to be honest, but I am d/l a AID disc to see if that would help at all.

Any Ideas or Questions that may help towards a solution?

Thanks

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer. Very Happy

Just get the aid disk made and pop it in, select dash and reinstall XBMC and you will be just fine.

So here's what happened next. I tried using the AID ISO Updater but it slowed down my computer soooooo much and then gave me a "Out of Memory" error. So I just decided to burn the AID ISO without any of the other files on it.

I walked up to my xbox and turned it on and it loaded the SmartXX screen and that was it! I was like wtf but I couldn't do anything else because my internet had been down for about an hour. So I changed the config settings back to where it didn't autoboot anything and the proceeded to insert the AID disk I made.

Turned the thing on and now it like repeat boots and doesn't stop booting, and I can't eject the disk haha

So looks like I'll have to get my other xbox and hook up the dvd drive to that just to eject the disk and then turn on my modded xbox and FTP to it, but all in all I think I'm at a point where I can use ED@Chip and get my FTP working and hopefully redo everything for the last time.

Thanks for the help/suggestions.

Ok so I finally got the AID ISO burnt with all the files, but here is the problem.....

When I turn on the xbox it quickly flashes the SmartXX then tries booting something. Over and over and over again.

So I had to use my other xbox to open the CD drive to put the CD in. Now when I turn it on......it does the exact same thing. I can't even make an attempt to do anything.

Apparently I'm back to my original problem and the AID try didn't do anything.

Any help would be sweeeeeet Smile

It looks like your chip cant find the dash since you removed it so it just keeps on doing the power cycle and since you have it set to not auto boot anything it still cant find the dash.

Can you set it to boot from disk and put the aid disk in.

Keep in mind it can take a long time for aid to boot up so be patient with it.

How would i set it to boot from disk?

It seems like it stops trying to boot after about 3 or 4 tries....

I'll try to lease the disc in for longer

Thanks for the help by the way

The Xbox automatically boots to the disc if its in the drive. If it sounds like its trying then fails to boot its probably because the Xbox cannot read the disc. Try using a different brand or media type and burn at the slowest speed possible.

That should help you out a bit.

Ok, I'm using a DVD+R disk and I burned it at 1x. I figured that should have worked. I will try and use a CD-RW because I think I read those work most of the time.

So I figured out I have a Thompson drive.

I went out and bought Maxell CD-RW discs and burnt my iso to it but it still is not being read by my DVD drive. I tried it multiple times and I still am not getting anywhere.

Any more suggestions.

Take those back to the store and get a different brand. Just have to keep trying the brands sadly.

Sorry for being a bit off-topic and stealing the thread Neutral but quick relative question.

Do you need a chip for the XBOX to boot up from CD?
And for the stupid question, you can boot up anything if theres a Service Error correct? Even if the error doesnt relate to the HDD, or DVD issues?

No you don't have a chip, you can softmod it too.

Depending on what error code you can because you can still boot up games.
