My question is, can I install UnleasedX without doing the soft mod? Or has the mod already been done? The case has not been opened, all labels are intact.
Thanks,
BTW, Great site, lots of info here for the Nubee.

If you are running the evox dash you are already softmodded so you just need a copy of AID 4.0 to install the dash you want, make sure to use the softmod dashes found on the aid disk and install to the E drive.
Here is a link to the AID download and you will need a bit client to download it: http://www.aidtracker.com/

Thanks for the reply. I'll let you know how it turns out. I downloaded the AID ISO last night.

since your softmod is installed and workinbg with EVOX you can use Auto Installer Deluxe (softmod options) to install any dashboard you like from a DVDROM or CDR..

As Wes213 and forahobby has said, AID is your best bet.
Just a question to clear up some confusion. Many users from here and extrernal sources has advised me to NEVER use AID. Why? It doesnt seem to pose a threat to my system. Is there some reason behind this?
AID is my second priority, FTP and CDs are my first when it comes to installing new programs and files.

I have no idea why anyone from this site would tell you not to use AID, the only other installer disk is slayers and its old as hell and out dated.

Some new people to the site advise you to use slayers. _________________

Ok, I downloaded and burned a copy of the AID 4.40 ISO, installed SID 5, unmounted the virtual C drive, Installed PBL, and Installed UnleashX via the Softmod one click install method. Rebooted box (V1.6 BTW) and it still came up with the EvolutionX dash. Went back into AID and installed UnleasX Dash to the C drive from the Dashboard menu and rebooted again.
Now, my box won't go past the opening XBox splash screen. IS there any remedy out there for this, or have I completely hosed my box?

I found out that I can still load games from the dvd on startup, but it won't boot my copy of AID 4.4. Di I miss a step in burning the AID dvd to make it bootable? I used DVD Decrypter to burn the iso.

Did you burn it at the slowest setting and if you did try a different format of disk.

Yeah, it was at 4x and I used a DVD+R disk. My box has a Phillips DVD installed (middle pic) and I read that most DVDs will read them the best. I'l try a -R and see if that works.

Nope, that didn't work either. I followed the directions in the AID tut to make the disk. It did not say I needed to put a bios or a boot file on the disk What makes the Xbox disks bootable? I used a 100mb dummy file when I burned it, should it have been larger? _________________ XBOX v1.6:

I burn them with out a dummy file and it looks for the XBE file to boot.
You do know it can take a few min or more to boot up right?

Yeah, I do. This one has been sitting here for well over an hour. The +R disks I used are rated at 16X Write speed. I also tried a -R 8X and a +R 4X with the same results. I also increased the Dummy file to 1Gb with no luck. Not sure if removing it would help or not. I have been trying to connect to it by FTP, but can't get a connection. I have tried setting my router to several different gateway settings, but have not hit the right one yet, it seems. I do have a green light on the left of the LAN port and a flashing amber one on the right. This is the same as on another box I have here. I suspect that it won't connect until the dash is launched. Know anyone who has a good chip for sale cheap? I'm thinking this may be my only repair option. _________________ XBOX v1.6:

You might also want to try burning at 2X, one xbox I had once wouldn't realy a disc unless it was burned at 2X. _________________
