Like I mentioned, I only do it that way because of FTP issues, but I honestly would never want to switch back. It also comes in handy when one of my friends wants some new skins, I can just take the disc to their house rather than taking the laptop or bringing the XBOX to me. Last, but not least, I went ahead and invested in some DVD+RWs so I wouldn't waste any discs. I copy what I need and then erase for later use.

I also have a 250GB HDD installed on mine so I can save my XBOX games directly onto it and not have to take any games with me when I move it around. Load times are faster also. You can save movies, tv shows, music cds, and lots of other applications as Wes213 mentioned. I went ahead and installed AID directly onto it to save me from finding the disc when I need it. I would recommend upgrading the HDD a sometime, but it definitely not a must.

o trust me i wana upgrade the hdd cuz i'm a media junkie (over 100 gigs of movies, over 250 gigs of tv including 40 gigs of anime, + i don't know how menny gigs of podcasts) i just don't want to swap out my backup disks everytime i wana watch something.
something else i've heard i can do if put everything on a hdd that in a computer n turn on file sharing for that drive.
1 more thing that i'll say b 4 i go. i mentioned my anime collection, most of it is in the i bleave the ogm or mkv format so i can have either the Japanese or eng audio n eng subs. can xbmc play those files n switch between the audio n subtitles? i'm asking cuz i don't wana transcode all that video.

Yes you can watch a movie by streaming it from your PC to your xbox and with all the media your going to want XBMC for sure.

This link will take you to a page that tells you what all formats of video XBMC can read: http://xbmc.org/wiki/index.php?title=XBMC_Features_and_Supported_Formats/Codecs#Xbox_supported_video_formats_and_resolutions
