Hi everybody i'm Aaron & i just joined the forum. i've been wanting to mod an xbox ever since i saw Keven Rose do it on The Screen Savers. after that i saw Roger Chang do a step by step rundown on ep 106 of the podcast DL.TV than he showed off XBMC (Xbox Media Center) on ep 118 & i was sold cuz i'm a media junkie. about a week ago i got a first gen Xbox to mod but i ran out of money n since i'm between jobs at the time i'm guna have to wait a bit longer to mod it.

Hello and welcome to the site!
Have you considered a softmod? Its free and it will do the same thing a chip will for you. _________________

Even with a softmod you still need a copy of one of the original games and a memory card. It is a lot cheaper though, than buying a chip. I myself have a softmod as do many others here.

You don't really need an adapter to get files onto your memory card. Just hack up an old controller and find some old usb device to hack a cable off of and match up the wires. The xbox controller has one extra, don't worry about it. You can get all the drivers you need to recognize the controller online. Takes a few minutes but its all free.

Just cut the wires and match the colors bro and keep in mind the yellow wire is not needed since it is for light guns.

A simple controller cable extender might be cheaper then the full on controller.

There is a good chance the 1.5 GB will work you just need to format it to fatx, the xbox should do it for you.
The cord you linked to from game stop will work for sure.
