i have a 120 gb seagate drive (ST3120025A) that was locked by an xbox other than mine and im having trouble trying to format it to use in my own. ive tried using atapwd and unlockx but they never boot up when i start the computer it just hangs. ive used them on both floppy and usb but no luck. I have the jumper out to make it master and its on the proper IDE cable. i do have the eeprom and all that so im hopeing that it will help in some way with using xboxhdm or something but i need it to unlock and stay unlocked to format it. I dont need any data off the drive. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks

xboxhdm has utilities to unlock it and it will stay unlock tell you lock it again.

So meaning if you unlock it with xboxhdm you can take it out of your pc it will stilled be unlock untell you go back into xboxhdm to lock it so when you unlock it with it its just a normal hard drive.

Try using xboxhdm to unlock it if it was locked with your xbox like TEC suggested. once mine was unlocked and a quick format with active killdisk it was ready to be used again
