3 Questions concerning XBOXHDM boot disc creation:

Hi all, my questions are…

1) When moving the “eeprom.bin” file to xboxhdm/linux/eeprom folder, do I DELETE the “eeprom.bin” file that was orig. located/ ftp’d to the E/ Backup location (In E Folder)?

2) In My “E” folder itself, there is the backup folder (as described earlier), a CACHE folder, and then the respected TDATA and UDATA folders.

I know for certain that the TDATA and UDATA folders are to be used but shall I still keep the other/ backup (as described earlier), and CACHE folders in the E folder- directory?

3) Lastly, when connecting the NEW Hard drive in PC, I will set the HD from Cable to Master and then back to “cable select” once hard drive is locked/ complete and proceeding to be in XBOX?

Thx all!!

OK:

1. No, do not delete the origianl. In fact its worth backing this up to your PC as well if you can.

2. Yes, keep all the folders in place.

3. Yes, the drive must be Master in the PC, however Master or Cable Select will be fine for the Xbox.

Hi guys, I had some luck with copying e/c drives but despite the eeprom.bin file being successfully placed into the eeprom folder of the xboxhd disc, I get a "eeprom.bin not found" error mess.

Looks like Chimp will be the only alternative.

I had the same problem with the "eeprom.bin not found" message. The solution was to save the eeprom.bin file all in lower case, as if it is slightly different (in my case they were all uppercase) then it won't be found. Burn the disc again with it saved as eeprom.bin

Hey there Stan and thx for that. I actually had all characters in lower case format but thx a lot, that was a good input and I'm glad you got yours working, I will do some more investigating as for what other culprit(s) that could be existent.

Thx again all.

Thanks anyway, thought it might help.

By the way, what is n your eeprom folder? Just the one bin file?

If you can't find the original eeprom.bin on your pc, do you have an eeprom reader. I bought one after making a hash of my home-made one. However I've had to use it a couple of times when config magic as not backed up the eeprom file correctly.

After i read the eeprom using the reader and saved this in the eeprom folder of the linux cd i had no problems locking it. With config magic backup of the eeprom file xboxhdm couldn't get the correct hdd password/key and therefore when booting up the xbox it gave an error 05 or 06 (the one that says that it can't unlock the hd).

However when i used the eeprom from the reader it locked it correctly and the xbox booted up fine. It may be that config magic has not backed it up properly. If in doubt i always read the eeprom.

Wow Stan you are def. thee man. I did confirm the eeprom.bin file being in the back up folder and copied into the "eeprom folder." I will check into buying a eeprom reader myself. I too, got crap shoot results from my homemade attempts of making one. lol
