Hey Wes I stole another idea from you. I know you don't mind, but thanks for the idea.
Welp I decided to do some more moding. I've already have a trick looking interface thanks to XBMC, larger Hard drive, but now its time to cool the beast down. I've never been into all that fans and plexi glass looking things on PC's before, but when I was looking at the temperature of the Xbox running it would get hot. Sometimes around 130 degrees and I thought that can't be good. So Installing a little fan was just what I thought I should do. I had a 80mm fan laying around from something and it can move air and its very quit. So here goes nothing.
Cut the side tin off to maximize air flow
Cut the rear tin off that was blocking the rear factory fan

I fired it up this morning and it was even cooler. Ran around 87 / 89. I even watched some short videos and it was well below last nights temps. Not bad for a cheap 80mm fan I had laying around, a jig saw to cut some holes and well I hate to admit it, but some sheet rock screws because the holes have to be really high on the case so it can close. I only screwed in the top. _________________ My Soft Mod Adventure - http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/postt23809.html

its ok temperature wise but it looks relly bad.
if you have any more spare fans try to make a spinning jewel, i have and it looks ok, but just one problem, the jewel sits quite high off the case, ill post some pics up later. _________________ My Xboxes >>> http://uk.youtube.com/profile?user=XBMCXBOX <<<

Looks nice.
I went for air flow over looks thou. Sure it just looks like a fan screwed to the side, but I wanted to move as much air as I could across the mother board and cool it down some. It seems I have done exactly what I set out to do.
Later I might install a second fan and slide the first one back so it appears to be a pair. Maybe paint the case and fans.
No those are not all Xbox games. The wife was emptying out our DVD player and for some reason stacked them in their to keep our 2year old from touching them. I need to get on her to clean that up before the discs get scratched.
I do thank you for your imput thou. I know case modding just like PC case modding is a big deal to a lot of the artistic type guys. I have zero skills and I'll keep looking in here and maybe I'll pick up a tip or 3. _________________ My Soft Mod Adventure - http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/postt23809.html
