I would like to go from modchipped to softmod xbox. I believe my aladdin 2 chip may be a fake as I read there are a lot of clones. Also I bought from a middle east country as I was deployed. Now I have AID 4.2 so can I install the softmod options and then rip out my modchip and then have my xbox boot up softmodded?

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer.
Run the soft mod one click install and then turn off the chip if it boots up your good to go man.
Fake or not if it works it works why take it out?

Problems updating to 500gb. I tried everthing i can just about google. Using xbpartioner, reformatting drive with flashfxp, trying to change bios to support plus hard drive, but can't flash since i can't find anything about how to turn off flash protected on aladdin 2.

Looks very alike except no black connector on mine. The chip at the top just says aladdin 2. And the Attice chip; mine is blank.
I tried flashing with a bios to support 137+ gb but i keep getting "not writeable" maybe i should my evok.ini file again. but i think i just have a cheap mod chip

You can use the chip to get your eeprom and make an xboxhdm disk then use that to soft mod the 500GB.
Once soft modded you can use AID to xbox partition it to 32 KB clusters and without rebooting it do the soft mod one click install.

I can't use xboxhdm because im only have a laptop so I can't plug in the IDE cable . Should I just try the soft mod one click install and hope for the best? Want to try something after work.

I guess you could just use the one click install, you just need to make sure to use the xboxpartitioner to do up 32KB clusters or your info will corrupt after 250GB.
