Popular opinion says that the samsung 605 is the best, its my fave and if you do price checks on all the brands of xbox disk drive its the most costly unless you go with a modded PC disk drive. Wink

If you can get your hands on one of the Hitachi LG drives, then they are great also. I haven't found a disc yet, that mine wouldn't read. I've used cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw, cd-rw data. All of them work just fine.

He would have to buy one of those though. Samsung drives are the best I think, my works great. Also V1.0-V1.5 xboxes are the best I think if you didn't already have an idea about what version you want.

does this mean you can't swap the xbox dvd drive for a store bought dvd drive?

Sorry but no thats not an option unless you get a mod kit to convert a PC disk drive to a xbox disk drive and very few will work that way.

To film what a tsop tut? I think a picture tut would be better for that since the soldering spots are real small. I can give you some pics of a board that I have here that is tsoped and you can take pics of it without.

I was going to put pics of the solder points before and after the solder and that way you can pause the video for a longer look and then the rest of the video would be on using aid to flash the TSOP, lots of noobs will not do a TSOP from a guide but feel safer going at it with a video tut.
