I recently downloaded surreal64, got it up and running onto my xbox just fine. It recognizes the ROMS but when i try to launch the games a progress bar appears and it loads the rom but then i just get a black screen. Any one had a similar problem and have an idea of what the issue could be?

Hey bro, welcome to the site. Hope you enjoy it and all the other awesome stuff the HQ has to offer.
Now for your problem. The N64 emulator is by far the most unstable emulator for the xbox so there are a lot of problems with this. 1964 is the best emulator I think. Surreal is not bad but I think there is a new version of it with AID v4.2 which is the latest that has 1964 on it. If you have a ROM that's not playing you basically just have to mess with the settings to get them to work.
o alright man thanks for the info, i just have a question about the settings, i know how to adjust them, but im curious as to what exactly it is that im adjusting. Like what is dynamic memory exactly, paging, etc....

If it helps any, SurrealXXX Beta is one of the newest and It works fine for me with a lot of roms. It sort of chooses between the three included Emus in one package. It will automatically choose with emu and Rice the rom works best wih. Even though you still have to press enter or "A" it will be one the best option already.
As SIK has mentioned already though, Surreal64 is all around the most unstable of the Emus. _________________

If you wanted to you could upgrade your xbox to have 128 mb of ram which would make surreal run ALOT better. Then you could turn up the amount of ram able to be used. The only problem is the ram install is hard to do. _________________
