my mum has just recently got a hd 26inch bush tv, i have my xbox plugged in by standard cable, and on xbmc it blurs for a sec and then comes clear, obviously a compenant cable or even at least an rgb would clear the pictureup, but ive also read about the hd patches?!? would these be of any use using a standard cable?

You need to purchase a HDTV av pack for the xbox to display anything in HD.. If your running a PAL system you may also need to use ENIGMAH-X Selector to switch your xbox 1 into NTSC mode as PAL did not support HD. (from memory).
