So i was backing up one of my games and as soon as i restarted my xbox i heard my HD click than i get an error code 7. i read up and they said to make sure my ide connections are fine and they all are. i have a samsung 400g hd hardmodded with smartxx v3. I just got my old hd replaced with this one. the one is about maybe 6 months old Shocked

Try a diff hdd and see if it will fire up that one.

Do you have any bare wires near the hdd that may have tuched it and burnt it out?

If it went up that fast it must be something big that went wrong.

no all the wires are in its safe place. i havent dropped it. it seems like its trying to read the sector but it keeps skipping

I dont know then, error 7 is allmost allways a hardware prob.

I just dont get how you got an error code 7 on a chiped box unless the hdd is truely dead. Confused

That sucks so bad.

no fortunatly i have 2 yrs warrenty but i had SOOO many games on it and i was wondering if thers any way of probably doing something for a quick fix so i can back it up to my computer? Sad Sad

Like i said before, i do have the warrenty on it. do you think the warrenty department can fix it rather than just replace it?
