I have created 3 disks all with the same prob, it loads the splash screen, goes into the menu, then before I can press anything goes black. I did it like the manual said to, even tried it with a write speed of 2x,what could i be doing wrong? should I backup the hard drive and format?

Sounds like your getting a bad burn to me if it starts up and then goes black. _________________

Is it going black on the AId menu or the your softmod menu? My ver1.0 loads Aid rather speedy, but a few of my other boxes take over a minute or to from a black screen to load. You might have to wait longer, but maybe you have already tried this.
Meaning, when I turn on the XBOX I insert AId and I get the Splash screen. Then when it says Microsoft under the XBOX logo, it goes black for a little over a minute, sometimes longer. Then, after waiting a minute or so, you hear the dvd drive catching the disc and it loads perfect every time. _________________

I can only suggest re-burning the disc on a different brand of DVD maybe.
And yes, it can take about 30 seconds to a minute for AID to boot, this is due to the size of the config file that it has to load in.

I am using dvd decryptor. And all it does is show the splash screen for aid then goes to the menu but aonly for a second. I used both the j500 gig dummy and the 1 gig dummy. on one of the disks I had created I used everything except for the 200 gig dummy.

I think I found my problem, I went to unzip the file again, and 00 - 06 were missing so I'm downloading it again.

I guess the zip was fualty, I went and redownloaded it now avery disk I create just goes to a blue unleash dash screen and quits, and repeats it every 2 minutes. Even on a cd -rw. I'm about to give up on this updating of the xbox, because it's slowing my laptop down and I keep loosing the ability to ftp to the xbox.
