Hey guys, first of all thank you for your help, so far as wes had instructed me to do I have downloaded aid 4.1, 1 gig, downloaded the iso file to a disk, and popped it in the xbox. Upon doing this , the xbox screen went to aid delux. Needless to say I was stoked, now after doing some searching around I found Chimp 2.6 like I needed, but here's the thing, I clicked on chimp to start downloading, and all it did was go to a black screen after saying loading real quick: what it said on the black screen was
The screen just stayed there and did not change, after rebooting, nothing was downloaded. I was just wondering if someone could help, it seems like I am so close to saving my hdd but yeet so far away. Is ther e tutorial for installing chimp to an xbox? Please anyone's help is appreciated.
I have a versioni 1.0 xbox, xecuter hardmod 3.0, avalaunch dash, w/ a 120 gig seagate I am in the process of switching over to a newly purchase 160 gig western digital.
Thank you one and all,
Jason

Sorry guys, I have another question, I followed the instructions on Final Clouds tutorial for chimping hdds, but when I went to chimp 2.4, and scanned the hdd, everything seemed fine, so following the steps, I selected the next step: clone master to slave. Here's my problem now, neither my new hdd or my original hdd have a spot on them where you can select slave or master. SO when I tired to clone the hdd's that's where the rest of the instructions on the tutorial go wrong. How do I do this, or how do I get around this to copy the hdd?
I have all of my ducks in a row, all I need is just like to more steps and I'm there.
Thanks, Jason

Thanks wes for the pic I just found one too that had a diagram, feeling rather stoopid right about now anywho while I am in chimp right now, the program is not reeading the new hdd. THe original is a seagate 120 gig hdd, and the new is a western digital 160 gig, do you think that it has anything to do w/ the fact that they are different makers? Am I missing something here? I printed out the tutorial, man it just seems like one thing after another no what I mean? ANywho thanks again for the help. I think after I get my xbox up and running I will be able to help alot of people out there. That's a pretty big IF I get my xbox up and running jk.
Thanks again,
Jason

Are you sure that the HD in the Xbox is set to master and the one your tryin to chimp is set to slave cause that may be your prob. Also you can try to unplug the IDE cable from the DVD drive while at your dash and put it in the HD b4 you boot up chimp I've had that work a couple times when it wouldn't pick up the drive doin it the way the tut says. _________________
Thanks alot both of you for those tips. Smoke, I just tried what you said above, but unfortunately all it did was freeze my dash, no worries though. Wes, I think you are right, considering the fact that I just bought this hdd today and didn't do anything to it at all. Thank you and I will try to format it. I will keep you posted thanks again.

Thats odd it froze your dash it always worked fine for me in unleash so it might just be the dash you're usin. It could quite possibly be that it needs to be formatted but I can't say for sure cause I've never used chimp on a brand new drive so I'd give a go and see if that works. If not I'd just say to hell with it and try xboxhdm on it. Its a lot more work but if you can't get Chimp to after you try every possibility out then I'd just use xboxhdm. _________________

Ask, and ye shall appear!
Ok, the most common reason for HDD's to not display in the Chimp menu is because both are set to Master, or one is on Cable Select. It won't matter about the different sizes or makes. I went from an 8Gb Seagate to a 160Gb Maxtor, so it can be done.
Make sure the IDE cable is loose on the DVD drive beforehand, make sure you switch cable over to the new HDD as soon as Chimp starts (do not progress through the menus then swap over). Remember that you can scroll down the screen (this catches a lot of people out. When you scan for the drives, your primary appears on top, with secondary listed BELOW it. You can scroll down to see that drive. Also, it won't say 120 or 160Gb, it'll be listed in bytes or megabytes, I can't remember which now).
Keep trying, we're all here to help if you need anything.
