I'll check it out and let you know. It took three days to download the last set of 64 roms.

I have two computers so it wasn't that bad. I just didnt use one of them for three days. Where do I get the emu that you are talking about? I'm still getting the hang of this whole modding scene.

n64 roms are hit or miss the mem upgrade might help some but i dont think it would be worth it as wes said cause each chip is a 100 pins to solider in and you have 4 of them do deal with i dont think it would be worth doing unless you wanna run linux and run a linux emu of n64 linux will take full advantage of all the ram..........plus i dont know where to get a linux 64 emu but iam sure someone has ported one for it

Actually it helps quite a bit but the xbe's for the emu all have to be patched for it to take full use of the RAM upgrade. If you check on eurasia.nu Dkoots I believe they have a version of surreal that uses virtual mem which would help with the speed/crashing issue. If you cant find it on there let me know and I'll check a couple places for ya and see if I cant find it.

Not so true jsmoke the upgrade will help with the 64 but the other emus have enuff memm to run at peak and the memm upgrade will do nothing for xbox games.
The xbox has enuff memm to run all its apps just fine and the one thing the memm upgrade will really help with (linux) is the one thing dkoots wont be useing.
So it wont help him much if at all. Wink

Are you guys still talking about making the roms run smoother or something else? I can't hang with all the software talk. So that emulator J_smoke is talking about wont help either?

Dkoots, I had a lot of trouble with Surreal64xxx too... I downloaded and am trying now V1.0 of Surreal64. I have to say, I've had WAY better luck with this version vs. the xxx version. With xxx, couldn't get barely 1/2 of the games to run... but this Surreal64.V1.0 is working pretty decent.

You should be able to find it on torrents, if you're interested.

You can't forget about the Killer Instict, PCSX, some games for mame, and also the PC emu and a couple other emus. They all benefit a decent amount from the mem upgrade. I've also patched a version of XBMC in the past to see if I would notice any difference with the RAM upgrade and it did help slightly with a few things such as switchin skins, themes, and fonts. I'm not sayin you're gonna see a huge increase in performance but it does help. Very Happy

In your post to moyers you just made it sound like its going to make the xbox fly and it wold if he was running a bunch of linux.
But yeah of the 2 comments you made i wold agree with the second one, like i said dkoots is planning to run N64 and might run pcsx so he woldent even get to use the upgrade enuff to know it was there.
Dont you think that you wold see the same gain in speed with an ide upgrade and it wold be more koots speed since he has said in the past that his soldering was basic. Very Happy

Well I agree it does help linux alot but as I said it also eliminated pretty much all my problems with PCSX and Surreal and helped quite a bit with Sega Saturn. There is no doubt that an ide upgrade would help alot with his problem but not as much as with the ram upgrade but it would help for sure and as you said it would be somethin he could easily accomplish. I would recommend tryin a couple different IDE cables out though cause I tried a few I had layin around the other day and a couple actually managed to slow the Xbox I was doin tryin em on down a fair amount and they were all no more than 6 months old.

Heres a little info on the topic of ide http://www.xboxrepairguide.com/ata-133-ide-cable-p-81.html
I did this and did see some better speeds but by no means should you think that this will make the box a powerhouse. Wink
