Thanks guys
Say, is there any software I need that I could go ahead and download? I'm still rather unfamilar with flashbios (if anything else is needed), then I guess XBMC (I could probably find that by google).
My friend's Xbox boots to Evo-X then he has XBMC under the Apps menu, but I might try to make mine boot directly to XBMC as I'd probably use that the most...

*phew* I was worried there for a minute...
Haha, honestly, I just like getting everything together for something like this so I can get it all done (hopefully) in one swoop.

Haha, I didn't plan to do too much. I just knew what my friends modded Xbox had loaded on it and what it could do, so I wanted to do much the same. I was half tempted to simply get an X3 and throw the same crap on mine as he had. It may be dated, but so far it's ran everything thrown at it.

OK, so I went poking around and found a few BIOS's that I think should work. So...to flash it, I load whichever BIOS works on my Xbox, boot it, flip the switch to the other bank and start the flash process? I mean that's the point of the duel bios is so I have a failsafe, correct?
I plan to use the X2.5035 bios. This is about the only BIOS I found that has been stated to work with the DuoX and is 512KB. And, once it's flashed, when do I gain FTP access?
Hah, sorry for sounding like such a noob I'll probably be fine once I get started, but I like having some idea what I'm getting into before getting started

Ok first the 5035 bios is real nice and will work just fine on your sys, as for how you wold go about flashing it no you dant flip the switch when its running.
Just set it to the bank you want to flash and turn it on, if that bank is blank it will prompt you for the bios or you can put in the aid disc and use it to flash the bios.
As for ftping the xbox you can do that as soon as you have the chip in, just pop in the aid disc and you can ftp to the ip the aid disc gives you.
At some point we all sound like noobs so forget about that junk and ask when you dont know, better to know then redo.

Damn, I spent all that time searching for a 512KB bios for nothing. Darn these easy to use AID disks!
Well, something I still don't quite understand... What exactly is flashbios for. I didn't think you'd flip the switch during the flashing process, but I had misread a guide. I guess what confuses me the most is how to do flash it 'again'. I figured one bank might be a failsafe with say flashbios, and the other would be the actual bootable bank. I mean if you can flash and overwrite both banks, what happens if a noob manages to perform a "bad flash" on both banks

Ok the bios is what tells the xbox to launch your hacked dash and not the msdash.
And if you did do a bad flash and it dont suport reflashing the you get a chip programmer and that will reflash it and if that dont work your chip broke.

Damn... Well for $19 it's not all bad if I screw up both banks, but it still would suck. It'd be very nice if there'd be some way one bank was always stay as the flashbios and the other was the "flashable" one so you wouldn't screw it up...
So there's no other failsafe? I know some computers will search for the bios image on a floppy drive if the bios becomes corrupt. Though under most cases, you do have to reprogram or replace it...

It really dont need a failsafe if you flash it with the aid disk im allmost sure it can be refalsh it if it was a bad flash and when you get it flashed turn on the lock switch and it cant get deleted.
When you have just one bank flashed with the right bios there is no real need to ever flash it again.

I actually found a small guide about how to flash the other bank on the DuoX.
I'm not sure if the DuoX is really "meant" to be switched while it's on, but it seems to be easy enough. I guess if I could load a working image on both banks I'd be set.
I hope my mod chip arrives soon... I'm ready to get started!

With the aid disc man you dont need to think about it just unlock the chip by the flip of a switch and flash boom your done.
The soldering is the part you got to take your time with.
