Wes it is media. I had maxell CD-RW and memorex CD-RW at one point. I burned both of them the same way. The memorex would not read on my xbox, not even show up as a disk there, and i pop in the maxell and it boots up. _________________

Dont know what to tell you man i used maxwell, memorex, sony, philips, and a few others (what evers chep at the time) and have got them all to work on all 3 of my xboxs and a few friends xboxs just fine as long as i burn it with nero image.
But wit dvd decrypt and a few other apps the disc will onley work in a few xboxs.

I've never had a problem with anything on any brand I've tried (Datawrite, Memorex, Maxell, Sony, Philips, even stores own brand worked fine).
There's no definitive guide that will say "this brand works, this one doesn't etc", because in all honesty, your best bet is to try. Its common sense to go for the bigger makes like Maxell, Memorex etc, but that isn't to say others wouldn't work just as well.
Just remember to keep the burning speed to a minimum to ensure maximum compatibility.
