I tried to add a new hd to an x3 modded v 1.0? box. I bought the xbox modded, didn't do any of it myself. I just took it apart, replaced the original hd cable and put in a larger hd. Put it back together and tried to turn it on. It powers off twice then frags red/green. The x3 logo on the flasher thingy is blue, the hd light is blue. I put the old hd and cable back in and it is still doing the same thing. I tried holding down the white button, no change, still a blank screen. I tried tapping the power and eject buttons at the same time, but it can't find the bios on the hd and I dont have a disc... I'm at a loss.

What could I have done here to f things up? What can I do to fix it?

Thanks guys!

BRILLIANT!!! THANKS BURNER!!!!!

I'm betting I bumped the switches down to all on when I was taking it apart! I put them all off and she booted right up.

Is this an ok setting? I know it has to do with the bios, but am not quite sure of all the settings.

Thanks again!!!!!!!

Okey dokely folks, now that I've got the new 750 in the hard modded box, how the heck do I get aid 4.0 to boot? I am looking at the x3 config live screen, but can't get the disc to boot. It works as I have used it in another (and this before the hd upgrade) xbox.

Thanks again!

To get the disk to boot go to customize X3 bios then go done to disable cd rom boot and disable it. Then turn it off and then back on with AID in the drive and it should boot.

Thanks Burner for the quick reply! I ended up popping the old drive in, ftping c and e over to my laptop. Then I popped the new drive in the xbox, ftpd in and copied c and e over from my laptop to the new drive. My xbox booted like it had the old drive in it. Then I could load Aid 4.0, and one click installed XBMC. Sooo thats the hard way to do it for anyone who wanted to know! LOL

Never got the chance to try out what you said sir. I already did what I did.

New question - it seems like some of my recently copied files are degrading; some wont play, others only play a little bit then stop. I'm beginning to think that the same thing is happening that happened to my 500gb when it wasn't formatted to 32kb clusters. But this 750gb is formatted to one big F drive with 32kb clusters and I have 169gb free.

Is there a limit to the size of one drive, even with 32kb clusters?

You need to go change the LB4 settings, or w/e it called on the X3. Make it F 137 G gets the rest.

Ok, formatted using xbpartitioner and 32kb clusters. Anything over 512gb in G got corrupted. Have gone to X3 menu and reformatted entire drive. Now I cant get Aid 4.0 to boot, nor do I know how to get the 750 to work properly. From what I have read on the net, you can't set both the F&G partitions to the same size or it wont work. From my experience this holds true, but I am seriously confused.

Please help?

Put most of the space on your f drive and keep g at about half the size of the f drive.

As for aid what type of disc are you useing, are you just burning the iso file and what app are you useing to burn it?

Aid is just Memorex DVD-R media. 8x speed. Burned with the app on AID. DVD decrypter. How do I get X3 to boot to the dvd instead of itself?

OK, now I've tried copying over a C & E drive from a softmodded xbox and the only thing I can get to boot is the Xbox dash or the X3 menu. Still can't boot the Aid 4.0 disc. It just sits on the Xbox logo and goes nowhere. Forever. I will try copying C and E from the old drive one more time to see if I can't get this figured out, but can anyone tell me why I can't boot Aid from X3?
