We recently softmodded 2 xboxes using the Mech Assault method, and the Unleashed tools. My question is this, unit 1 is a v1.1 box, with a 40 gig drive in it, and it will run everything we have thrown at it, either on disk, or moved to the hard drive. Unit 2 is a v1.0, and would run everything fine from DVD before the mod, but after the mod, and installation of a 100 gig hard drive, it will not run quite a few games, either from DVD or HDD, chief among these being Republic Commando, Crimson Skies, and Armed and Dangerous. From these observations I am guessing that the bios needs to be updated. Is this even possible, and where do I begin? To be honest, I read through the tutorials and the forums, but did not see a heading addressing this particular problem. Has anyone else run into this, and if so, what did you do to resolve the issue??
Thanks in advance.

Try clearing your E:\Cache folder and your X:\, Y:\ and Z:\ drives. That should fix your problem. _________________

The only way to actually change the bios if thats what you're talkin about is if you do a TSOP mod to the Xbox, if you just want to update the M$ dash then pop the game Halo2 or Need for Speed Underground 2 or about any newer Xbox game in and it'll update the dash. I've never came across the problem you're havin b4 and I'm not sure what's causin it but you can go ahead and try to put one of those games in to update the dash if it already hasn't been and see if that helps. _________________

I'm not too sure that its the cache man cause if it was the game should load but freeze during play not just plain not work. I really don't think its a M$ dash issue either but he was askin about changin the bios for it and thats about the closest you can get with a softmod and it really doesn't have much of anything to do with the bios n e ways. Thanks for the props on my avatar, OZZY is my favorite rock singer and Randy Rhoads is my f**kin hero, I still can't believe the way Randy died man, all over a practical joke. _________________

If its not booting the games at all then darth wold be right not clearing the cache will stop games apps and movies from booting up from disc or hdd.
If it plays some games then its not the msdash or no games wold work.

O my bad the problems I've always ran into with the cache just makes programs and games freeze almost immediatly after bootin them not make them not work at all, and I didn't think it had anything to do with the dash really but he was askin about changin the bios and what not so I told him the closest thing you can come to w/ a softmod besides PBL. Maybe I just always caught it right before it got too full to get to that point. Well atleast I learned somethin new. _________________

The cache can do lots of odd crap when it gets full there is an XBMC skin that has a button on the main dash to clear the cache, its one of the skins on the aid 4.11 download.

We have them at the shop, and I will try clearing the cache in a few minutes, and will post a reply later telling what the final result was. Thanks for the quick replies!

You guys are the best!! I have one additional question. I would like to upgrade the hard drive beyond the size that it is now.. We were thinking about taking both of them to about 320 gig, and I read in some of the posts to the forum about being able to go beyond the 137 gig limit, is there a quick and dirty tutorial about doing that?
Thanks again!

Ive always wonered why when you mod your xbox your cache can cause problems, while sotck xboxes never have a problem with the cache. _________________

Imean think about it like this the stock xbox has all that space being wasted and it did nothing but play games and such, then modders come in and turn it in to a pc so your bound to end up with trash build up just like a full on pc.
