hey again!

sorry ive been MIA for a while- work has been so hectic! anyone whos been watching the news and been hearing about the NYC activity knows ive had alot to digest lately Crying or Very sad

anyways- after comming home from the worst 2 weeks, i should of went to sleep right? wrong! instead i got bored and decided to be "brave" and gut out my xbox to see how simple it is to remove the case and paint it.

well, that was easy.....actually it was extremly easy and i even had the right tools curtacy ala my boyfriends gunsmithing tools.

so what i wanna know is this- what are the best types of paint to use? i learned how to remove the metal piece (without scraping my nose LMAO!) so it should be a breeze

who has painted theirs? i also want to change the green eject LED to blue or maybe something funkier and i can probably get the LEDs at radioshack no?

any ideas would be much appreciated and ill look around there in this forum for more ideas Smile

thanks!

<3 jilly

hey there....the cases aren't hard at all to paint. i used House of Kolors paint on the case below...didnt turn out too bad....it takes a lot of sanding an primer to get the paint to actually adhere well to the surface of the case...glad u didnt hurt ur nose removing the metal!....Burner6999 remembers that one well..haha...if u wanna change the color of your eject button led's, go here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=50825

you will also find pics of other modded cases and such here: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/postt21345.html

Sorry that its X-S but only good tut i found haha

ah yes i completely forgot about the sanding down process- what would be good to take care of that? dremel or something?

i saw the work on the thread you posted before and they are all really cool! i also saw one member post his decalgirl stickers that were custom made. that was also cool too but id rather not use a sticker- i want to paint it and do it right myself since i have the artistic ability......im confident i wont screw it up Smile

i like what you did to yours! what steps did you have to go through? im very curious to learn more!

thanks for the imput!

not a prob jilly....well first of all i just wanted to clear my jewel..you can read my tut on how to do that here: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-266.html

after i cut the hole in the top out for the jewel, i decided to paint it. the sanding process: get some low grit sand paper but not really low, about 250 grit is what i used...as long as its not too course....once you get it sanded with 250 (or whatever u use) put ur first coat of primer on. after your first coat of primer sand with a higher grit, like 800 to smooth it out....then I paint mine with House of Kolors....you can get House of Kolors at Wal Mart or any automotive parts place that sells paint... Cool after a couple coats of color, make sure to clear coat it so it doesnt mess up the paint Very Happy enjoy ur new case, ur done....haha not really hard at all and its worth the time u invest

Okay here is how I painted my case. I took the top off and put it in the dishwasher to remove all contaminents and dust and then I just painted it with krylon especially for plastic paint. No sanding, priming or anything!!! Just spray it and let it dry. My case turned out beautiful in all its hunter green glory. So like I said go get you the paint especially made for plastic and forget all the hassle. Very Happy

thats what i initially thought- if i get spray paint designed for plastic i wouldnt have to worry about sanding it......but then again if i sand it itll look neater no? i want a really high glossy kinda finish and if i sand papered the "X" part it would be a lot nicer.

but i dont know if i want to spray paint it....or atleast the whole thing. i thought about personally detailing it to every perfection nuck and cranny..... i dont know.

looks like ill have to either A) go to my local craft store for paint or B) homedepot

Hey eithier way is cool it is just that I saw this paint for plastic and tried it on a xbox top after I had dishwashed it and bam it went on so sweet. But it really is all about what you feel comfortable doing. And by the way Sik I have always enjoyed reading your posts and find you to be well spoken and a valuable member of xbox hq. Keep up the good work bro! Very Happy

You both need to get real the best case mods dont use paint , paint is a lame cheap way to do nothing . Evil or Very Mad

Now wallpaper is what us real modders use.
Oh and elmers glue with glitter. Wink Laughing
