I have a 1.0 xbox with kernel version 4034.01 and dashboard version 5960.01 and cannot seem to get the SID softmod to work. When using the Splinter Cell exploit, after selecting "checkpoints" it goes to a blank screen and does nothing. When trying the Mech Assault exploit I just get a message saying that it can be run. I have tried re-downloading and re-transferring the files but nothing helps. I am at a loss as to what to do next. Can anybody give me some guidance?

Have you tryed any of the guides here on the forum?
Did you make a backup of your MSdash and your eeprom?
Have you ever had a softmod on the xbox that was not sid?
And my last Q is what Ver. of sid are you useing?

This Xbox has never been modded before.

I downloaded it from the xbins ftp site today. It is version 2.0. I know there are newer versions out there but I didn't see them on the FTP site.
As an FYI, I just tried Krayzies Ndure and it does the same thing.

Ok man sorry about all the Q's but you know how it is i need info to spot whats going wrong.
So did you put the save files on the hdd or are you trying to launch them from the memm card?
And when you go to the save file screen in mech dose it show the word linux as an option?

Save files are on the hard drive. I just downloaded SID 5.01 and I'm getting basically the same results:
Using MechAssault, after choosing Campaign, Run Linux is lists, but when I try to use it I get the error "Unable to run "Run Linux".
Using Splinter Cell, after choosing "Checkpoints" I'm presented with a blank black screen. With SID 5.01 the ring also flashes from off to red to green. That didn't happen with the old version of SID.

Interestingly enough, I just checked the date and time on the Xbox. They were set to 2001. I changed that and tried to run the Splinter Cell save again. I still get the black screen, but the ring is solid orange now. Progress???

It wold be a good idea to remove all save files or back them up, just keep the exploit save so thare is less stuff for the xbox to look at.
If i cant get you up and running tonight ill hit up bongripz, he knows a little more about the softmods then i do.

The exploits are the only save files on the drive for those games.

Just a shot in the dark here but are you useing an action replay card to install the exploits?

No. I'm using a Hip Gear memory card. But I am using the Action Replay drivers and software to copy the files to the memory card.

The ar cards are bad for mucking the save file and i havent herd of the hip gear.
Is there any way you can get your hands on a stock or madcatz card?

I know the card is good. It was given to me by a friend after e used it to mod his xbox. Unfortunately he had deleted the save files off of it so I had to download them again.

make sure the mech disc is part #x08-82264
And make sure your not useing The platnum hits.
Shoot for a diffrent ver of AR firmware.
Make sure you dont have any downloaded maps from live .
Ill read some more on this prob and hit back here as soon ass i see anything that may fix this.
