Hi
first of
I am in the process of trying to mod my xbox. now i went to a shop to get a chip fitted (i chickened out there) but the guys there didnt make much sense one said i had a xecuter modchip and the other said i had this one

to play copies i need to power on with the power button and to play originals on xbox live i need to power on with the reset button. when i play copies inside the xbox is a red flashing led also when i play copies the x at the start is blue now and below that in white it says xecuter2
I have read your guides and im confident i can do most things myself
im just completely stuck on the flashing bios part. Im certain i can flash it as the guides read well enough but i dont know what bios to use as im unsure of my chip
Any help would be greately appreciated

You really need to find out what chip you have. It looks like the DuoChip needs a 512K bios whereas the Xectuer's use a different size I think.
Not too mention, the Xecuter bios, unless it's an X3 needs to be flashed via a programmer. The X3 can flash from the DVD Rom Drive of your xbox.
Also, what version xbox do you have? That will be a factor too. If it's a 1.6 you must use a M8 version that is the right size for your flash banks.

I found out my chip is the duox2 could i not use the bios thats installed already?
As for the version at the moment its a 1.4 or a 1.5 i followed this guide
My video chip is in image 2 "focus" i click that then the next screen threw me i only need to know this and whatever link i follow the next screen is my version can u shed any light on this ive looked but got myself lost
it has a phillips dvd drive aswell

FWIW, I use 512K BIOS in my X2.3blite+.

hello all
ive been a bit busy but i found the version checker disc in the download section and ive used that and i have come up with this
xbox version 1.4
modchip Duox 2 (the one in the link in my first post)
i think that is all that is needed so please can you tell me what bios i need to install the auto installer dashboard in the download section
again though coul;d i not use the bios installed already the one at the mo says xecuter2 on booting

Hello J,
If your box already has a chip in it, and you have an xecuter bios already flashed, why are you trying to re-flash it? Also, since you mentioned xbox live - remember to disable your chip or you will get banned.

thats the answer i wanted someone to give me
i thought i could install the auto installer with the bios i have as it came up xecuter 2 but i didnt want to knacker my xbox up . so i have gone ahead and done it and bam its workin great its a lot better than i thought it would be and some of the skins make it look proper spot on.
i have ripped a game and burned it and that works i have transfered a game to the hdd and that works all thanx to the guides here
I will now get a bigger hdd and look into all of the rest of the installer and see what i can do

always one thing though why in settings on my xbox does bios version come up as unknown and is 52.3 c a hot temperature for the cpu when all its done is sat there for about 5 mins while i typed this (m/b is 39 c)
