as i said get yourself a fibre glass pen and/or some rubbing alcohol.
The mobo is coated with a lacquer so you need to remove this from the areas where you want to contact the board(such as D0).
also check you are using the correct via for the D0 as already mentioned

Okay here is the deal. Solderless adapters are your friends. This is what you have to do. Take a big deep breath and step away from the xbox. No don't argue!!! Step away from the xbox. Then go do something for awhile that relaxes you. Take a walk or go get something to eat. You are getting frustrated and that is not good. I know I went through the same thing with my solderless adapter. Now when you have given yourself time to relax go back to your xbox and take the whole solderless adapter out again. Look at the pin assembly on the adapter. Are the pins straight? Is there any kind of debris, dust or whatever on the pins or in the holes you are trying to put it in? After you have checked this try lining up the adapter again and pushing it in the appropriate motherboard holes. Now here is the secret.....push hard not like you are trying to push it through the motherboard but hard nonetheless. Now insert the do wire in the hole it goes into. Press firmly straight down and you should feel a slight pop not loud but just a like you just punctured something pop. Now apply the chip to the adapter and then power your xbox up. Don't connect any dvd drives or hard drive. You should have some serious glowing coming from your modchip. If not repeat my first steps and start all over again. It's frustrating but eventually you will get it. If all else fails then yes you might have a bad chip. But try seating that bad boy multiple times and then when you have it in right apply the screw and you all good. Sorry for the ramble but that is how I had to do it and I know it is frustrating!!! Just take your time and relax. Hope this helps!!!

Thanks for the advice.
First off, I'm quite certain that I have the wire in the correct d0 hole. My XBOX is a version 1.1; I will attempt to explain its location without creating confusion. It's directly below another hole, both of which are parallel to the 3rd input from the right of a chip located directly to the right of the LPC. I don't know if I could explain this any better unfortunately (unless I understood electronics better).
Secondly, I will attempt to clear the surface of impurities using rubbing alcohol (I'm thinking that I'll use a cotton swab to apply it) any recommendations against this method.
Thirdly, rebelcharm, thank you for your suggestions (which probably saved me from some unnecessary pain). I have tried that once already, but I will give it another try. this time I will apply a little more force and listen for a slight popping sound as you suggest (hopefully I don't hear too much popping )
Hopefully this will resolve itself soon (as I'm getting quite anxious for the moment when my XBOX is finally being used to its full potential)!

Just wanted to check in with you plasma and see how your mod is going? If you need any kind of assistance please feel free too ask. Remember the only stupid question is the question not asked. Also feel free to pm me if you have a question. The good thing is that you picked the best webpage to come to for modding help. These guys are the greatest when it comes to modding anything. So like I said feel free to ask questions and contact me if you need any help with setup or just want to vent!!! Anyhow here I am going way over my word quota in a post!!!! Sorry again for the ramble but I know how frustrating the initial installation can be. But once you get your xbox setup you will be in heaven!!! Good luck and feel free to posts as much as you like.

This is the reason why soldered is so much better. It takes almost time to install, and you don't have to fix it when i moves away from the LPC holes... _________________

Thanks to all who've helped so far!
Unfortunately, I haven't had much time since my last post to work on the XBOX. I'll dive into it tomorrow night and make one last attempt at using the Xapt3r. If it continues to give me problems, I think I'll take the advice of Darth33bagger and try the "adapterless" approach (Although this would only be possible with the purchase of some additional electronics tools ). Hopefully I'll see some progress within the next 48 hours and reap the rewards of a successful mod.
