Hey all!

My house got hit by lightning and fried a couple TVs and some other stuff. One thing is my XBOX!!

The xbox was off BUT plugged in and after the lightning hit us, I checked on it and it was on by itself. But just the fan and the modchip LED was on but not the xbox LED on the front.

I opened her up and nothing looks burnt or damaged in anyway.

I have an Xecuter 2.6 modchip with a 300GB hdd and a ton of movies, music, and games. I would really love to save it without buying a used xbox and starting over but with a softmod.

Any suggestions would be awesome!

And remember kids, UNPLUG your electronics during bad storms.....sometimes surge protectors suck.

I had a powersurge fry a motherboard one time, well two at the same time.... Shocked Since then I make sure all my electronics are plugged into actually surge protectors, not those crappy powerstrips.

Just because it has a breaker on it dosnt mean it works. Thats the same thing that happened to my pc when it got fried. The powersupply was fine but the motherboard was toast. I recomend getting a surge protector that has a gaurentee on it.

on long island NY we get very bad "tropical storms" and get horrible lightening.

incase of power outages or surges, i have a very expensive monster computer power protector with that whole "clean technology" thing going on. cost me a pretty penny but lemme tell you its the best thing i EVER bought since im prone to having electronics "fry out"

anyways about your xbox, if it works then leave it alone i suppose. worse comes to worse you can always take out the modchip right? i mean i know you said you didnt want to do all that all over again but sometimes thats just one of lifes many "sacrifices"

pick up a monster power protector you wont be sorry Smile
