Okay well I have been carefully reading and rereading several tutorials on softmodding and reading all the topics on the forums since I have been a member of this grand community and I have come to a conclusion. Softmodding seems to be a one way trip to hell Every post I have read has been about some horrible thing that has happened to someones xbox shortly after softmodding there system. Now don't get angry with me all you softmodders out there. I am just saying that most of the posts about thier xbox messing up is almost always a softmod gone terribly wrong. So is it just that softmodding is alot cheaper then purchasing a chip or what? Since I have installed my chip I have not had one problem with my xbox. Now keep in mind I am not tweaking the settings and messing with the file manager or anything radical like that. I am just using my modded xbox too store my valuable and soon to be irreplacable games and movie collection on. Anyhow it just seems to me in my humble oponion that instead of going through all the hassle of doing a softmod that it would be alot easier to just by a solderless chip and install it. Am I horribly mistaken or do others feel the same way? Your input on this discussion as always would be greatly appreciated.

Yes soft mods are cheap and most folks use it cuz thay dont want to open or solder the xbox but in the long run it seems to be harder to fix and real ez to muck it up.
Thank God for the mod chip.

Hiya Wes I am going to see Def Leppard,Foreigner and Styx this saturday in Dallas It is going to be way sweet!!!! I am slowly but not surely trying to learn how to play guitar and it is a exercise in patience and very frustrating. But oh well it will be worth it if I can just learn some basic songs as far as I am concerned. Anyhow just wanted to let you know that my xbox is still rocking and not one thing has gone wrong with it yet. DeAnna says hi and wishes all the best to you and the family. See you later

Ok.... heres the deal. There are several ways to screw up a softmod. If you follow these rules you never will: Never format your c drive, never delete or move anything off of your c drive unless you know what it is, leave the gasmesave you use to exploit on your hdd incase you need to redo your softmod, back up your eeprom on your pc, and finaly make sure you back up the ms dash and all that while you're softmodding. _________________

Most people when they softmod do things they shouldnt. Think of it thisway: your dash is your OS. If you go into your windows directory, would you go around deleteing or moving system files? Probobly not. Why people go around moving and deleteing their dashboard files is beyond me. _________________

Personally I prefer the chips but that's just me. Over all you can do more with the chips, me thinks.
A friend has a softmod and it does work fine. So like the fellas say here just be careful and know what you are doing. _________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

I softmodded a few of my friends and they have had no problems, they just don't mess with anything. I would get a chip though.
