I'm trying to chip my Xbox with the Xecuter 3CE chip so that I can use it as a media center with xbmc. I've followed this guide, but I still have problems.

When I turn on the Xbox (quickly pressing the power-button) it acts as if I don't have a modchip at all. The front panel doesn't even light up.

Earlier I got the front panel to light up, but then the eject-button flashed red/green, which I understand means "bad soldering". So I've gone over all my solderings and made sure they are all good.

When I look inside the box I can see that the xecuter chip lights up - so it gets electricity.

The only thing I can think of right now is that I have bad solderings or maybe even have burned the motherboard. I've tried as best I can not to burn anything, my soldering iron is 18W and I never used it for more than 2-3 seconds at a time. I've attached some pictures of the soldering joints. They are not too good as the circuitry are pretty tiny, but I hope you guys can tell me whether I've done something wrong here?

Good lord man size those pics. Laughing

Looks like a few of the solder point are lil high up on the pins might want to heat them up and get some of that solder to tuch the motherboard.
Like in Pinheader solderings #2 you can see whare it looks to high on the first row second to last pin and back row 3 pin in from the right the solder looks like a ball setting on top the pin.

Might be just the way the pic looks but i wold start thare.

I've got a version 1.1 Xbox. I got two blue leds. It all _seems_ fine now.

Sorry about the pics, I know they are large but I didn't bother making thumbnails and links. Yeah, I'll have one more look at those solderings, but I think they are touching nevertheless. Maybe I'll just leave it the way it is now that it seems to work Smile.

I just reconnected all cables etc. and all-of-a-sudden it works! Like magic. However, I can't use my controllers. I don't have any original controllers since I bought the console used over the net. I've got two controllers from cemetech, cmetech, cametech or something. A couple of google searches tells me that flashbios might not recognize non-original controllers.

Thanks a bunch for the help and quick answers boobs & wes213! I'm gonna google some more around this new problem before I nag some more Smile

If you start with the solder point closer to the fan cut out point and count down its allways number 3.
If you start count from the point closer to the controle points its the 5th one in for a ver.1.2-1.5
For a ver.1.0-1.1 its the 6th point in.
