Hey all. I just though I'd share it with you, for those who are interested.

My Ride
- 1986 Holden VL Berlina Turbo
- Nissan RB30ET Engine
- Hidden front mount intercooler
- Jatco 4 speed heavy duty auto tranmission
- Borg Warner 3.45:1 ratio differential
- Factory A/C, P/S etc.
- Original paint

At the moment, the stock Nissan* 3.0L straight six is being fed the standard boost of 7 p.s.i via a Garrett T3 turbo, and 600x230x76mm intercooler.

* (The General Motors Holden VL is powered by Nissan RB30 engine)

The only modifications I have done is the addition of a front mount intercooler, Autometer boost gauge, MicroTech turbo timer, and a Sony/Alpine sound system.

Now the thing I love most about this car is the condition it is in. For a 20 year old car, just over 200,000Km (~124,00 miles) is not all that much. However, the engine and trans. were reconditioned approx. 40,000Km ago. The paint is all original, as well as the red interior, which is in remarkably good condition, seeing as I am the 3rd owner.

Plans for the future include forged internals, RB25 head, top mount Garrett GT35/40 turbo, and a fully manualized 3 speed auto with trans. brake.
There will be more obviously, but my aim would be for a mid to low 11 second quarter mile street car Very Happy

However, I don't intend on giving it the appearence of a performance car, I want to go for that 'sleeper look'. You know, so it looks like the kind of car your grandparents would drive Laughing It actually surprises many people, they don't expect it to be as quick as it is....

Here are just a few photos I took today. As I make progress, I will post up some more. Enjoy (Click the pics for a better view) Wink

Hi Roo,

very nice ride man.. I would have dreamed of that car when i was your age.. Man, where they expensive when i was on my P's.. lol.. Well 15 years ago nearly..

They drive like a dream too.. What else can i say either.. Its a NISSAN motor bro... lol.. And the turbo takes the cake.

Just alittle about my NISSAN SR20DET Pulsar:
- 215kw Dynoed
- 3 Stage TurboSmart Boost Controller (6,12,16)
- Greddy Turbo Timer
- 3 Core Intercooler
- Mild Cams
- Microtech ECU

Nissan just make a good car man.. Ive had my pulsar for years and been pumping more and more power into it and it runs fine... I bet youll keep your car for sometime.. Sounds like your onto a winner..

Feel free to upload some of your car pics to your profile like i have,..

anyway, talk soon and thanks for sharing..

cheers,

hobbs

Thanks for the comments Smile

Now I know VLTs are quite common round your area, but there aren't too many real clean ones round here. Everyone drives lancers, WRXs etc.

I just like the old skool Wink

You sound just like a few of my mates.. They love old school..
Sure they enjoy coming for a ride in my car and they know its fast but they still love their commodores etc..

My mate J has a Peter Brock VK Commodore.. (a real one)..

He loves VL turbo's too..

I always say how can you go wrong with a NISSAN ENGINE to rub it in.. lol

l8r bro.. happy cruising in your tidy ride..

Update: I've bought a new 'cooler kit, which should be here within weeks. So when it get here, its going straight in, along with a Turbosmart boost controller and B&M line locker valve. Should be fun Smile

You should be able to control the fuel trim via the ECU. You can map the fuel to hit and run the boost out longer making your ride pretty fun at the track. I know a ton of people doing it to VW's. You can look for a forum of you ride and they should have all the programs needed to control the fuel trim with your laptop....But you're chipped so the only other thing you could do is upgrade the Pct Program to a 93. I didn't read the chipped ECU but some do the fuel trims for fun

Hi mate, with my standard ecu map, fuel system (pump, injectors, reg. etc.) stock internals, and premium fuel (RON 98 ) I will be able to run max. 14 PSI boost, without pinging or leaning out. This is due to the injectors maxing out (i.e. reaching 100% duty cycle, or full open). The fuel pump can't keep up much more than that anyway.

I do plan on running a rising rate fuel press. regulator though, to help keep things nice and stoich Smile

Later I will be looking at aftermarket management and bigger injectors, as the standard ecu is very basic.

Loving the car Roo. Very Happy

While we're on the subject of cars, I'd thought I'd post mine up. It's a:
- 1998 Mazda 323f Executive.
- Mazda MX5 Sport Engine
- 4-wheel ABS system
- A/C, P/S, C/L, E/M and Engine Management system.

Sound system is a Sony CDXNC9950 Full colour head unit:
http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/acatalog/info%5fSony%5fCDXNC9950%2ehtml

Other than that, its fairly standard. I just love the styling. Very Happy
