Wow if you could put a decent sized hard drive under the dvd drive think of all the space you would have without that big old hard drive tray in there? The possibilities would be endless!!!! You could put a big old fan in that area or get even more creative and put like a candy dispenser in that side or something!!!!! Yeah like that side could kick out nerds or some other kind of delicious gaming snack!!!! Err sorry got kinda carried away. Keep me informed on how it works please

Hey I just had another cool idea!!! You could turn the hard drive tray into a food dehydrator!!!! You could be playing a hunting game and dehydrating deer jerky!!!!! That way if the wife or girlfriend yells at you for playing to long you could just say to them I am in the very important process of providing healthy long lasting food for the family!!!!!

Has anyone ever tried to put a laptop 2.5" Hdd in a xbox?
I mean its very smal and compact less room = more airflow....

Might want to talk to some of the guys in here that have built slim boxs seems like thay wold have looked into to that at some point.
If i had the space free that the hdd was takeing up i wold install a self ejecting ash tray and lighter.

Wes!!!!! It's nice to have you back man!!! This place wasn't the same without you!!! How was the vacation? Did you get some rays and enjoy some family time? The wife says hi and hopes you had a good trip. I scored a 1.6 version xbox with samsung drive for 30 bucks and that was with shipping from ebay!!! Its in great condition...Seller sold it to me because the tray wouldnt eject without a game in it. Anyhow thinking about painting one of my xbox lids and putting a 80mm fan on top of the jewel area for increased airflow. What do you think?

Good to see i can allways come home.
Had the time of my life man 7 days of sun and seafood you cant go wrong.
Tell your fem i said hello from me and mine and if you going to paint an xbox she can chill it needs no programming.
The pic might be too small but if you can see all them shells on the ground thats what the floor looks like at the buffets i went to .
The one thing i wish was that i could have got my hands on a conch shell from what i hear you got to go in the winter for that.
Any way what kind of paint are you thinking about i want to do one in Mystic Mustang with gloss black high lights myself.

Just painted the whole top a high gloss hunter green. Not really into the painting only the x thing. Plus hunter green and black just look so sweet together. Hunter green is my favorite color if you haven't already guessed. I am waiting for it too dry and then I will try to get a pic....I say try but my only digital camera right now is my razor camera phone and it takes very limited detail pictures . So if anyone feels like giving to the needy and have a digital camera just laying around that they they are not using let me know Just kidding. Going to get around to buying one.....one of these days. Anyhow I will take a pic when it is dry and put back together. Oh by the way I like the pic...looks relaxing and sunny

In all seriousness though if we do find out that a laptop hdd could in fact fit under the dvd drive that would leave alot of lovely space for other things in the old hdd slot. Here is too hoping!!!

Okay well I am done!!! Not that you can truly appreciate the color scheme because my damn phone camera sucks so bad. But just imagine the top, front panel and disc tray cover as Hunter green and you get the idea. I also replaced the jewel with a 80mm green lighted fan that is hooked up to 12volt mod. I think it looks cool and the pictures don't do it justice but if you could see it in person you would like it I am sure. The fan does a really good job of keeping the box cool. Anyhow here is the pic. Sorry it is so bad. I have to get a digital camera real soon.
