Which version xbox is better for modding and evrything else?

I gotta go with version 1.4. It's a great version with a very easy to modchip motherboard and usually comes with a Samsung drive. What more can you ask for?

Good call rebelcharm the samsung rocks but if thats not a prob for you anything but a 1.6 mod's the same till you get to the bios, with a 1.6 you got to do a LPC rebuild (if your solder hand is good thats not to hard) plus you need to run a power wire to the chip.
Disc drive aside thay all work grate just know that the 1.6 comes with a lil more work.

How you doing Wes? Sorry been outta contact for a bit but the work has been flowing and by the time I get home its eat,shower and sleep. I have been slowly but surely filling up the 500 with all my games and some of my movies. My wife has been real supportive of the whole xbox thing. Thats because she knows I could be out drinking in a bar somewhere instead of sitting at the house staying out of trouble!!!! Anyhow I just wanted to say hi and to thank you again for all your help and support!!! You the man!!!

Sure is, like i said thay all work just need to know the Ver. so you know what bios to get.
The bios and type of chip let you know what bios to load.

I happen to like 1.0 the best, but many people dont like it for the extra fan it has over the gpu. Really it doesn't matter which version between 1.0-1.5 you get, because they are all almost the same. 1.6 is a little more work, and 1.6b is by far the worst, since some mod chips wont work in them. _________________

installing a mod chip is easy in any xbox version 1.0-1.6 well 1.0 u do some desodering but o well big deal and ive messed with so many 1.6s that there a piece of cake. If you think your going to mess up on soldering something Get a broken cd player or something that has a board inside of it grab your self a soldering gun and practice with wires or soldering points together with anything tell you get it down and your good to go. None of this stuff is hard when i first started out i thought dam this is going to be but it turned out it wasn't. So like i said practice on something that is already broken and has a small mother boardor something similar almost anything a VCR or something take it apart and solder away.
