I softmod XBoxs & they work fine, so my question is why would anyone spend the extra money to Chip their XBox?
What benefits could that possibly have?
The way I see it, if you can drop a new drive in the xbox, load up your games, movies, MP3s, etc... without having to spend the money, wait for shipment, & then take the chance on a bad solder job, then why not just softmod?
hi,
i see where you are coming from, i feel the same.
i prefer to flash the TSOP, its a sorta half-way house between the softmod or chip, but, lol, ive managed to screw up once or twice, so for me a mod-chip has been an easy way to recover from my mistake. Also theres always the possibility to boot different bios`s, an evo, executor or debug, or if u are that way inclined install one of those fancy LCD things. _________________

Well guy the chip can be installed with out the solder now so one less thing to muck.
Pluse the main thing for me is it's ez to recover if any thing gose wrong.
Like user1 said you can add to it with the lcd screen or sound acttive led's.
No need to have a game save like AR or keep a game around thats old or no fun to play like splinter cell, mechassult,or oo7.
But my main thing is the fact its a whole lot more ez to recover with seeing as how i crash it all the time.
Seems like i wold keep my hands off it once i had it running good but no not me allways one more thing to make it do.

Oh My Gosh!!!
DJB!
Wow, I didn't expect to get a reply from someone like you!
Wow, I Just got a newer SID, I havnt used it yet, but it looks very nice.
A friend told me that the XBMC install on it is not a configured install, is that true?
When I say configured I am talking about the folders and such.
On my XBMC setup I have my Music folder setup with Workgroup, Playlists, Samba, MyMusic, Etc...
Same with my Videos Folder & so on...
if it is true, what would I have to xfer to bring those settings over?
Thanks for your wonderful tools & the time you put into making our lives a little easier & saving us so much time by having a single source for all our config needs...

Hey, I'm just an ordinary person just like you hehe.
Thanks very much for your compliments too, I like hearing feedback from people on what they think of my work.
Yea I've noticed this problem with XBMC, even with my beta testing of AID 4.10. I try to include a pre-configured sources.xml and it doesnt seem to want to use it for some weird reason. I'll keep looking at it and see if I can overcome this.

Well, my box is softmodded. Its never gone wrong and I get all the functionality I need.
The only real reason a softmod would go truely wrong, is if someone started playing around and deleting things in it. Thats how dashboards stop responding!

from my experience on forums this generally does happen to a large majority of soft mod users (may not be their fault) then they plough through forums trying to find a fix
I have a modchip in one of my xboxes and softmod on the other, the chip makes me feel more at ease and offers the ability to boot different bios'. Thats just what i like

I will not do a softmod for any of my friends since it is a hassle when someone decides to get adventurous with their xbox and accidentially delete something...with a chip I can have their box up and running in 10 min...however, you are going to have to spend a little more time with a softmod...personally, i think fifty bucks is well worth the money in the long run due to peace of mind and ease when something does happen to go wrong...later _________________ Xbox V1.6
