My XB is a v1.0 and it was previously softmodded. I am one the many stewpeds that was digging through the cool options on avalaunch and decided beyond good judgment to "push the shiny red button" that said HDD unlock. After spending hours restarting my XBox like a retarded monkey wondering why it won't deliver my crack-laced banana chips I call Need for Speed, I discovered to my dismay from reading the all knowing forums that I had turned my crack machine XBox into a giant paper weight. I fronted the little cash that was needed to purchase a DUO2 X2 chip to try and lock my HDD. I did a pretty good job with the soldering despite the withdrawal induced shakes I was going through as I hooked up D0. I put it all together, powered up, and no banana chips! All I got was a blank screen with no audio and my DUO2 X2's LED was flashing red. The Xbox is doing the identical thing it did when I unlocked it (flashing red) almost as if I had added nothing to it. I tried the chip on both BIOS banks and nothin and in both power methods... nothin'. Can anyone help a monkey with a bad habit out! I feel the shakes cminog bcak eotr bkbl ll;s lksfdjbllk .......__- ooo eeeeeeeee!

jus did dun that. Resoldered everything, even the joints I thought were good just in case. Spent another 2 hours on D0 just to be sure. Put it all together and the chip is still flashing red and ditto with XB. Is there a way to check the conections with meter? What else could it be?

hi;

your install seems ok, the red flashing LED on the chip is telling you that its gettin power, but if u wanna double check things try this :
Check if power is getting to the chip by either measuring for 3.3v on pin 9 of the chip (2 down from the D0 pad) or link a wire between the BT pad on the chip and pin 9.

So I checked the power and everything seems fine going into the chip. Even the D0 is getting power. I still have a flashing red light on the XB. HMMM?

how do u know your xbox is v1.0?
what is the pinout of the pinheader that you used?

can you post some good quality pictures of the soldering job you did?

actually im not sure about the d0 wire, but test the box with the chip off and see if it still works

it seems to me like a bios issue.
can you boot any burned media ? (flash one of the banks if u can)
also, there seems to be a lot of `fake` duo chips, check the BT & D0 letters on the chip, if they are yellow its genuine, if they are white shoot it with your BB gun.

My XBox is v.1.0 Some of the obvious clues are the Fan on the northbridge, the daughterboard USB card, the conexant video chip and the fact that my friend bought it on the day the Xbox was released. I don't have a digital camera so I can't post pics and like I said, the HDD is unlocked so it will not boot otherwise.

The chip looks to be genuine. I bought it from Modshopplace and the only strange item is the 'Hyundai' chip instead of the AMD chip. the board looks to be genuine with the gold lettering though. I haven't been successful in booting with the CD/DVD media. Anything I put into it will not be read. The XBox will go straight to a red flashing light almost the second I push the power button or eject button. I hear the DVD drive running but it doesn't affect the function of the system.

Any Sugs.?

possibility 1.
did u softmod the box yourself ? ...... did u make a `MS backup` to your PC ?, if so i think u may be able to restore your harddrive with XBHDM, ive never used this program so unfortunatly i cant advise you on this.

possibility 2.
find a friend with another xbox with a duox2 chip installed, boot his machine with your prefered chip flashing utility, quickly pull his chip off the pin header, replace it with yours then flash a decent bios onto it (summit like 5035). Again this is something i havent tried.

sorry its brief, but those are my suggestions.
