Okay here is the deal....I just purchased a xenium gold s.p. modchip and was needing some advice. What do I have to do after I have installed the modchip? I don't have any clue what program to use with the modchip and also was wondering if all western digital ata 100 hd's are lockable? If you have any advice for a first time modder I would greatly appreciate it. Oh and one more question.....Is the xenium gold s.p. modchip a good modchip to start out with? first youll need to use a torrent and get auto installer delux to start its got all the start out goodies you will need.
You can check this list to find your hdd and see if its lockable http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=Xbox_HardDrives
After you get your hands on auto installer delux A.K.A. AID you might want to read up with the Tutorials here http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-cid-1.html look in to updateing your chip bios hope this gets you pointed on the right path guy good luck and welcome to XBOX-HQ you in good hands with the folks here.

If you're just looking to mainly rip your games to your hdd and play games and such I recomend going with Unleash x as your dash. If you're looking to play movies and such, I recomend XBMC. _________________

Missed that part i wold say yes i had a hard time getting it to work on my buds xbox but after you get it working its a grate chip it will be good for all the upgrades you might want later on like an lcd screen or what not.

Okay well I have researched the following hard drive Western Digital WD5000AAKB 500GB ATA100 7200rpm 16MB Hard Drive on every website that has information on lockable hard drives and all of them say they don't have that drive's information yet. Are all western digital drives lockable or no? Also I have every version xbox from v1 to v6...I have seven working xboxes =) Anyhow what version is the best for modchips? Or does it really matter since the xenium will fit all versions? I just want to say how great you guys are for responding to these questions. Your fast reply has made me once again believe in the deceny of human beings. Thank you again and any information you can pass along would be great.

all of the ver. are good most folks are not fond of v.1.6 cuz it needs more soldering then the older ones but thay are all good.

I'm just about to order a replacment drive for my xbox as my 250giger seems to be dying.....can anybody confirm that the westerndigital WD5000AAKB is lockable?

I cant find it on any of the lists so if it dose work add it to the compatabilatie chart.
Most WD hdds work just fine.
