how do i turn off auto dectect so i can lock my new hdd i have a WD2005JB and when i got to lock it so i can put it in my xbox atapwd.exe says its frozen. and i do not know how to turn off auto-dectect drive on my pc. will sum1 please enlighten me?

when i use hdlock.exe on my bootdisk it just says deivce is not ready and when i bring it up on atapwd.exe it says it froze. alot of ppls response to this is turn off auto detect but i do not know how to do that

I think it can be turnd off in your PC bios restart the pc then hit like f2 or f8 to get to your bios look aroun in thare for it.

yeah thats it i just did it on my old dell restart hit f2 when it prompts and go to the drive in the list hit enter and select off.
Worked for me.

i am using a compaq presario sr1901wm and i dont think it will let me turn off the bios. but some how earlier i was able to unfreeze the drive once but i dont know how i did it. pm me or talk to me on im would be very helpful

not turn off the bios....just the autodetect for hd...you turn that off IN the bios... _________________
