replaced my dvd-rom on my xbox (old school not 360) and the thing boots up, got a mod chip installed and it shows the icon and everything, but the date/time screen pops up and controllers won't work -- tried a variety of controllers, in every port, unplugged and replugged multiple times, not sure what the problem is. any ideas?

when you took your box apart...did you only mess with the dvd-drive?
if you have a v 1.0 mobo you could have jarred loose the daughterboards, which your controllers connect to.
just replacing the dvd drive wouldnt cause your controllers to stop working.
something had to be knocked lose, or something.

It would only move something if its a 1.0 xbox. So if its not then its something else. _________________
