I have searched up and down these forums for the past couple of hours now, and this is why im making my post. i cant seem to find someone else with my problem so here we go.
I get all my files downloaded, copy them to my hard drive from my memory card, start up my splinter cell. the load is recognized perfectly and i am able to start it up from the load, when i do i am able to move from levels to checkpoints. once i hit A on the checkpoints i hit it again like the tut says, i then wait for something to happen. nothing happens, my game just freezes. The music still plays.
I have tried this about 3-4 times already and my last one is still going since about 20-30 minutes.
I honstly dont know what to do, i have searched up and down like i said. i am very computer fluent so do be afraid to get technical.

Use SID 5.01 for starters, and try it again. _________________

I got it to work almost instantly after reading a post that said you have to have no other profiles.
I didnt know xbox live content followed that rule. :-/
Thanks for the help anyway

tis cool, just trying to find a FTP tut or some help on it now
Sorry for the bump. I'm also having the same problem trying to get Splinter Cell to work, and it freezes in the same exact place with music still playing.
Does everything but the 2 necessary files need deleted from the hard drive? Such as soundtracks, other game saves, xbox live profiles, etc..? I have no other Splinter Cell game saves, no xbox live profile...but I do have about 50 saves from other games and soundtracks on the HD. Could that be the problem? I just didn't wanna spend all that time deleting/transferring (some are too big for a 8mb card) game saves and still not be able to get this working.
More info:
K:1.00.4034.01
B:1.00.5960.01
Memory card is 8MB made by Microsoft
Splinter Cell is the original bought on it's release date.
I've tried this using SID2.0 and SID5.01
Thanks for any answers/help.

Hello Xtreme and welcome to the HQ we hope you enjoy the site and check out some of the other HQ sites we have to offer.
I find when doing a soft mod it is best to remove all the save files and info you can from the hdd, then start the steps of softmodding.
I've deleted everything from the HD, copied the 2 files (SID5.Installer and SID5.Loader.SplinterCell.NTSC) required for the soft mod, removed the memory card just to be sure, restarted the console, and it still freezes up with the music playing. Everything was done and looks identical to the video tutorial, and I'm still having the same issue. I doubt it's worth trying to find a copy of either of the 2 other games to see if my game is the problem. Like I said, it's the original release copy of SC. I guess my Xbox just doesn't want to cooperate. Thanks again for the help.

If you can get it to boot a disc you can pop in Auto installer deluxe and use it to format and rebuild the hdd.
The auto installer is gonna be my last resort in getting this to work. There's no broadband in my area, so 1GB will take weeks.
I don't know what else the problem could be. It does the exact same lockup on 2 different Xbox systems here. One being a launch unit, and the other made in 2004. I may have to just put a mod chip in the old one if I want to get this to ever work. It's not too important anyway. I've had my PSP modded for over 2 years and liked the idea of playing emus on my TV. Is this soft mod the easiest/most reliable of all to use? I've run across a couple of others, but they're pretty old and wasn't sure whether I should even bother.

Yeah i find it to be the the best by far anf im sure 95% or more of the softmodders on this site wold agree with that.
I cant say i haven even seen this prob on here befor this, you are putting the game save and the sid installer both on the hdd right?
Yeah, I put them both on the hdd. I tried 2 versions of Action Replay, tried multiple ways of copying them to the memory card, different order in copying them to the Xbox, tried doing this on two different computers, downloaded SID5.01 again and did a hash check...and it still freezes on both Xbox consoles. I'm out of ideas. I'm not a total noob when it comes to this stuff, but I feel pretty dumb right now.
I'm working on getting the AID 4.10 Lite, and I'll report back in a few years when I finally get it downloaded. Thanks again, man.
