I have tried to use xboxhdm to install a 250G Western Digital into my softmodded xbox. I copied the softmodded original hdd C, E and Eeprom into the linux folder and made the iso using nero (burned at 4x). Everthing works fine until I try to copy the files from C, E and Eeprom. The computer says insert a disc with these files on there. When I check the ISO disc I made, the files are there. I then have to use xbrowser to copy the files. When I try to reboot and lock the hdd , it tells me that eeprom can't be found. Once again, I verified that the eeprom was on the disc. i don't have floppy disc drives and I think I just need to get the hdd locked in order to use it. When I put it in the xbox, I get an error 5 (hdd not locked). Any suggestions? Sad javascript:emoticon('Sad')

I did the whole thing again from scratch. This will be the third time that I have burned and ISO of this program. It just will not read the files from the DVDROM. I can copy C and E but even when I try to type the path the eeprom, it will not work. (Path that I type /dev/hdb/E/UDATA/21585554/000000000000/backup). I downloaded here and I get the same result. Can someone send me a working copy or let me know what I am doing wrong?

yes, I used the .bat file. I believe it is called make-iso-win.bat. It appears to work except I can't access the files that are in the c and e folder or the eeprom.

You should boot it into the linux enviroment and then confirm that the files are indeed on there, or if you have a mac check the disk there. From what it sounds like, you did everything correct. Lastly, which menu options are you choosing when you try to lock the drive?

I can actually use xbrowser and transfer the files to the hdd that way. So I'm pretty sure that I have the files on the hdd. The problem is that since it won't recognize the files on the cdrom automaticlly, it won't let me lock the hdd. I use option 3 in order to lock it. Then type unlock - a. It then tells me that it can't find eeprom (I even transfered the eeprom file to the hdd). I then try to type the path using option 2 and typing /dev/hdb/eeprom and it tells me something lile bad eeprom or something, it flashes this and I couldn't catch it. it then goes back to the three options of 1. load file from floppy (which I don't have), 2. type path or 3. quit.

It's possible that there were corrupt files in the c: and/or e: folders. Get another copy of the m$dash and burn a new disc.

Well, I went to xbins and downloaded another copy and got the same result. The files are on there. When I boot into the linux environment and use xbrowser to look at files they are there. I just can't get the files to automatically recognize from the disc. I always make a DVD. Am I supposed to make a CD? Do I need true DOS? I am running XP Pro. Everything else seem to work fine. If this has worked for any, please let me know the process. I hate to be so close yet so far from accessing my HDD.

try to burn it on a cd-wr real slow using dvd-decrypter.
allso are you using the eeprom from HERE.......

E:\UDATA\21585554\000000000000\backup\ then the eeprom.bin file there, that is the right one.........

then just put your new ms dash (5960) in C drive and that eeprom into the eeprom file and make the iso disk.....

if that don't work mate try to use a diffrent computer.....

Robbie- I have tried it with two different computers with the same result.
Although I have not tried it with a CD-RW. I have used different CD-R's and it's not made a difference.

I've not got far enough to have eeprom issues yet...

xbhdm refuses to copy C and E from the bootable disk.
