Post subject: Matrix Chip Disabling Itself?

I've been having an issue with my solder-less Matrix chip in that it seems to keep disabling itself every so often, requiring me to open up the box and realign it again. For some reason the LED on the chip stays green even when it appears to be disabled or unaligned (ie. the MS dash boots up). Is this a known issue? Is it just the chip falling out of alignment without the LED reflecting that? Is there any way around this?

Maybe I can somehow softmod it while the chip is working (via FTP?) and then remove the chip?

Thanks for your help. Smile

BTW, yes, the chip is set to 'always on' mode. Razz

i've never used a Matrix, but i would say since the led's are still lit, its your d0 point.. thats what enables the chip and tells the xbox to look there for the dashboard. not to sure on your adapter, but i would loosen the main screw make sure you have it snug to the board and then snug the screw down good. also make sure your D0 is secure...

Thanks for the reply. I ended up installing a softmod so the chip is redundant now. Everythings working perfectly! Very Happy
