i was wondering if some1 could help me in connecting my xbox to the pc with the evoulation x
{chip alx2+ r3} tried the 2 configeration that are here but nothing worked
can someone help me?

I've never been successful with a crossover cable (you ARE using the crossover and not the patch cable, right?). I use a router because it's smart and I'm not! It basically configures everything for me. I just plug the Xbox and PC into the router with patch cables, open up Flash FXP, have it start a connection with the Xbox, using the IP that shows up on my EvoX dash, username xbox password xbox. Routers do make the ordeal so much ....less of an ordeal!
I am going to be switching to wireless tonight I think. I am due for a PC restore as I try to do that every eight months or so. I may just go ahead and fire up the MS MN-700 and MS MN-740 and see what I get from it...
Something tells me I will be in firmware hell though

Hi,
I have the same chip and use the crossover cable from xbox to pc and have no problems
Settings on PC
In TCP/IP settings use IP 192.168.0.8 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and no default gateway.
Settings on XBOX
Use static IP. IP 192.168.0.3 subent mask 255.255.255.0 and no default gateway. both DNS 0.0.0.0.
Connect with an PC ftp program. I use Total Commander and connect with xbox connection 192.168.0.3. Username: xbox password: xbox (unless you changed it)
