Post subject: Enable HD on Softmodded Xbox

I have a softmodded Xbox(SID 4.5 KNave) and every time I try to change video mode to widescreen in MS Dash it reboots into UnleashX and when I check settings in MS Dash it still shows video mode "Normal". I am trying to set widescreen in MS Dash because setting it in UnleashX doesn't seem to be making XBMC recognise my HDTV/widescreen settings.

I recently bought a HDTV and have connected my xbox to it through monster component cable.

Can somebody help me please?.

Update: you will also get error code 13 if you softmod a non-HD version of MS Dash then enabled widescreen and 480p, 1080i settings in UnleashX then boot into MS Dash and try to enable widescreen.!!! just FYI.

Xbox version
K 1.00.5101.01
D 1.00.5960.01

Figured out the problem, I am not deleting the thread so that if anybody else has similar issue can use my below solution.

I found a old thread at (_http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php/t543496.html) about how you must uninstall softmod then boot to MS Dash and enable widescreen, 480p, 720p and 1080i settings then...Install softmod again. This is required because the EEPROM which is being used after softmod - doesn't have HD enabled. So you need to boot into unmodded Xbox and enable HD and then softmod.

If you are using SID 4.5 to uninstall and install softmod then the only thing you need to backup is the config.xml in E:\ drive, because this will get overwritten when you reinstall softmod and you will loose your UnleashX settings. Everything else - your games, apps,videos- will be intact. The whole thing takes less than 10 mins!.

Once you reinstall the softmod and boot into UnleashX, it will be in Widescreen 1080i mode Smile.

Also if you use XBMC then goto settings->appearance->screen and set resolution to 1080i 16:9 or whatever you want, also adjust your video calibration. Now goto Settings->Videos->Player change resolution to 1080i 16:9 and calibrate video on this screen again.

That's it, you softmodded Xbox is in HD mode now.Smile

I am using Monster 400x Xbox component cable. Amazon has sellers who are selling these for $10 including shipping, the cable is awesome!.
