right 0 ive got the xbmc 2, and ive already used xlink kai well good, ive had a dabble at ftp and its so slow i haven't bothered again - but how the hell do i stream media to my xbox????

You just need to share the folder where all your media sits on your PC. From your XBOX, go to My Videos, then Workgroup, choose your workgroup, then PC and you should see your shared folder. Open up the video you want to stream and presto!
Once you get that going, you can create a "source"..like a shortcut right from XBMC in the appropriate folder. Like My Videos, within there you can create a shortcut and have it go directly to your shared folder.
Start with the first one and try it out.
If you have a bunch of firewall goop going on, that could cause you some issues. If it does, turn it off and retry...just to elimate that as an issue.
If you are streaming High res videos downloaded from the net (720p, normally twice the size of regular downloaded content), you will need to turn Hardware Overlay on (instead of High Quality Pixel Shading) and turn off any uneeded extras. If you are tyring to do this, let me know...it took a lot of trial an error on my part to get it working without any hiccups. I'll have to look at my settings again.
