I just bought an Xbox to use it as media center and for occasional gaming, I have everything that I need to do a softmod except action replay which I am waiting on. I have read AID, SID manuals and LOT of online tutorials on softmodding and saw videos of SID 4.5 NKnace softmodding in action on youtube. I have few newb questions.
!.SID 4.5 NKnave seems to be backup Original MSDash and EEPROM(from C: to E: ) and then when we select install softmod option it seems to copy the files from E: to C: drive again. Why does it do take files back and forth? does it path them while copying?.
2.SID is supposed to install all modding stuff on shadowimg/virtual C: drive, but it seems to be copying files back and forth before setting up virtual drive which occurs after you reboot xbox. What's happening here?.
3.SID manual recommends patching EEPROM by taking it from original C drive and then changing some values using LiveInfo and putting it back in original C drive. What exactly does this do, it says "Virtual EEPROM, Taking your true eeprom backup, patching it to prevent
applications from unlocking your HDD!!! Something never ever done!!!" I don't get this. Can somebody please explain?.
4.This question also involves AID 3.10. If I install EvoX as softmod in SID then when I try to install extra app's through AID it also has several different BIOS and Dashboards with Evo X M8 Plus name on it, what are these for. How is EvoX version on AID disk different from one installed through SID?.
5.When I selelect to install a dashboard in AID 3.10 will it replace or overwrite previously installed dashboards? does it add itself as option?.
6. I am planning to upgrade my HD later, If I want to go ahead and install EvoX M8 Plus Stealth 137 GB+ in AID disk what do I do? do I use some flash tool and flash the BIOS with above mentioned file? I am guessing Xbox Live wont work with this BIOS, so If I have Dual Boot option (Tray Open=Retail) then will the BIOS still be EvoX version and not compatible with Xbox Live.
7.How does Xbox boot process work? when does patched EEPROM take over?.
Sorry for so many questions, I tried to find answers myself but couldn't. Thanks for your help in advance.
P.S. I don't know my Xbox exact version, it's either 1.4 or 1.5. The serial/mfg date on the outside are wiped out. Is the serial number shown in UnleashX or EvoX systeminfo same as the one on outside label?. I opened my Xbox up and thats how I know that it's either 1.4 or 1.5, don't have multimeter to check exact version. Thanks.
