OK, in Xbox modding terms i'm an Xbox Newb totally.....
However by trade a Linux engineer...sooooo....
At home I have a MythTV setup and a while back read up on Xbox front end for MythTV....so bought an older Xbox (non 1.6), did the MA hack (using my PSP memory card)... and installed Xebian, and now mythFrontend...
So after playing and so far not getting it look good enough (cant seem to get 1080i working on X) and also Myth frontend performance slow I stumbled on XBMC Python Script to emulate MythTV front end... so I want to give it a try
But.... er... the problem with the Xbox scene, is everyone has been too successsful and I am overwhelmed with choice or even where I should start. My issues are:
a) I dont want to loose Xebian... I want to be able to compare mythtTV to the XBMC stuff
b) As I have already softmodded my box (in a way) to boot Xebian... Im confused as to whether I need to re-softmod with these other mentioned softmods
c) leading on from b) I was thinking the more along the lines that I can just mount the partitions directly and put stuff in place?? or can I also just burn the Auto Installer deluxe ISO and that will run and I can do this stuff?
d) Would it be safer to get the HD key and wack another drive in a try this stuff on that. I have a few 10GB drives spare and a 40GB and 120GB etc.
e) I ensured when I got the Xbox that the BIOS version was older so I could install Xebian (it was stated that I needed that), but most of the hacks I see talk about latest version (5960)...but as I mentioned, I dont want to loose Xebian.
f) Can I install another Bios and dual boot...without breaking what I have
So anyway doesnt all this ramble make sense, and help answering some or all would be greatful.
As I said, im a Linux geek, Windows Pc geek and not afraid of stuff, but know thew Xbox scene is totally new to me... but any help would be welcome.
I already have downloaded Auto.Installer.Deluxe.v3.10 and read the PDFs etc.... but as I said already having Xebian im not sure which bits I should do or not....

OK, so I realise my question was more of ramble, it was late and I had spent hours reading docs and forums.
But here are my two questions.:
1. can I install a dashboard and XMBC just by copying files to the E drive from my Xebian install. Or is my box not soft-modded enough or crrectly to do this.
2. If not number 1, can I just run the Auto installer ISO in the drive and put the correct softmod in place?
3. If so what would people recommend that be: I would really like to dual boot, with Drawer open booting me to original MS BIOS/Xebian and power on booting to me to a BIOS that lets me run a different dashboard and primarily XBMC....
ideas??

I would opt for the 4th option, Dual harddrive xbox all you would have to do is flip a switch and you can use both. _________________

Yup, Xebian is basically the Debian Linux Distro thats tweaked to run on the X-box. And does so pretty well.... however trying to run Linux and X11 (gui) in 64MB is not ideal.
With the emergency Linux install I already have on the xbox I have the unlock info for the drive.... So no im thinking of using XBOXMBC (I think that was it!, damn accronyms!) to mount the drive on my PC and image to another drive. I have a stack of locakble 10GB drives and a few 40GB ones too.
Then, provided new drive works Im going to totally blow away the Xebian stuff...upgrade to latest on stock..... then use SID3.1 to get EvoX on...and then see if I can XMBC and Xebian install at the same time.
