Ok so I opened the XBOX and put the y-splitter on and loosened the IDE cable from the DVD drive. I boot up the XBOX and start Chimp. Then I put the IDE cable onto the new hd. I don't know what to do next. I went into the first menu option but it didn't do anything when I pressed A or any other button. It only shows my retail and not the new one. How do I make the second drive the slave or what else could be my problem. I really want to install this drive but don't want to mess anything up. It just keeps going back the the main menu of Chimp. Any help is appreciated. Not a 1.6 either.

I looked at the guide but it doesn't really go into any depth. I just retried putting the hard drive in. It was set on slave(dual). When I get into the first menu option should it show two drives or what should it say because it's only showing the one retail drive. And when I go into the next option and choose to copy the files it just goes to a black screen and does nothing, just a small blinking underline(I chose not to be shown the progress if that has anything to do with it). I guess I'm just an idiot and it probably is something small that I'm missing but please help.

If it dont show both drives then it wont work. but when it does detect it, it will sit at that screen with the blinking white thing for a because it is formating the drive the it will ask which partions to copy and then something else when that is all done choose the option to lock slave drive.

I noticed when I start it up a screen flashes quickly that says something about it cannot allocate region 1 and then I lose it but there is a lot on the screen. Anyone know this error or whatever it is. I also tried to transfer the files and it starts to do it on the progress screen but when it's finished I go to lock drive and click A and nothing happens just goes back to main screen. I'm probably just going to give up.

Are you sure that the second drive is not being displayed. I had the same message flick up on mine and then when it detected the drives I thought it was only showing 1 drive. As it turned out, you can scroll the page down and below the original drive are the details for the second drive.
After that, mine copied across fine and I've had no problems at all. _________________
