I have had my box modded for several years. I have a programer, and both banks on the chip have the m7 bios. recently the system will NOT boot at all. Nothing at has been done to the system (as far as i know), just all of a sudden i get the 3 boot frag, I havn't changed a thing (don't fix what is not broke right?). I know the bios is way out of date, but I have never had a problem up until now. If i use the switch to disable the chip, it boots right up to the error 5 code. When I try to boot with the chip enabled, both lights on the chip light up and and the light on the switch lights up as well (well they stay lit during the 3 boot frag anyways). There have been some instances where the box booted to black and white lines on the screen, and other times when you power it down and turn it back on, it is like the video doesn't reset it self. I get 1/2 a screen of the green x.. but nothing boots. i have been searching the newsgroups for several days for the 5035 bios, but the latest post is like 70 days old, and to no avail, i can't get it downloaded to update my bios. Do you think the chip has maybe gone bad? I have checked the solder points on the LPC, and they seem to all be in tact. Could they go bad or come loose after several years of use?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
NuTz

That happen to me some 4 years ago (i bealive) it was solved by replacing the chip and the HardDrive.
I still don't know why my HDD go mad with the xip at the same time.
You can find Bios at the "Usual Places"
But i think your xip just go mad.
Please reply when you solve the problem[/quote] _________________

Error 5 just means that the HDD is not locked. Do you have AID3.10? If not, get the torrent from downloads section, there is alot available in the download that can/will help you.
