HELP with Xbox error 9

I decided to upgrade the HDD (WD Protégé) in my soft modded Xbox. I used xboxhdm 1.9 to create a CD along with the C & E folders which I FTP from my Xbox.

The new HDD was a Maxtor and works perfect.

I used the original drive I had taken out to then try and fix an Xbox with error 7 fault on. I used a disc which I had made before with a clean retail image on, made with xboxhdm 1.9. I have used this disk a couple of times before with no problems. (Only changing the eeprom.bin file for the appropriate Xbox).

When the HDD (WD) was connected to the Xbox with error 7 fault on, it now reads an error 9 fault. So I decided to use the image I first created to restore the HDD (WD Protégé) so I could put it back in its original box (box which I took it from & now has Maxtor HDD in).

It still reads error 9 in the box it came from. If I put the Maxtor (drive I replaced it with) back in it works perfect. The same image has been used on both hard drives. Maxtor works but original WD does not.

Does the WD need to be setup differently? HDD Key not problem. Have even put the HDD back to original state so I can run diagnostic tools on it in XP. It passes all tests.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you locked the stock HD you are swapping? With the new eeprom? Checked the jumper settings to make sure you did not leave it on Master?

Have locked hard, put jumper on cable select. Have double checked I'm using the correct eeprom.bin. The disk I made with xboxhdm worked for the replacement drive (maxtor) I put in. But when I use the same xboxhdm disk to install the original stoke HD it displays error 9. Thanks for help...
