Hello, I have a problem. I just got my hands on a Xbox Debug kit. And after a few moments of tinkering i found that it does not play games. So I went online to see how to fix it. I found one website xboxhacks.com, which said that there were programs for the debug so that it would play retail games. However the links didn't work. So, I was wondering what programs can do that, and the links for them. And how do i install one of these programs... Thanks
Tony

have you tried modding it? because im willing to bet that if you do so it will play all the games your heart desires and then more. _________________ XBOX360

Well... The thing is I don't want to "Mod" the system because I may want to sell the system later

In my thesaurus, it lists "paperweight" as a synonym for "an Xbox Dbebug Kit that won't play games". I'd probably pay $20 for a paperweight like that. However, if it actually does something, like play games, the valuable will be many fold higher. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

yup, modding does seem to have a strange effect on the value of an xbox, expecialy when it has a larger hdd...Hmmm.... i wonder why. hmm.. must be a mystery of our faith. _________________ XBOX360

I think it's value will dramatically improve simply if it can do something. In its present state, it does nothing. It would be neat to find these programs that could make it work.
Did xboxhacks.com mention the program names? I checked out the site and did a search for "debug" and nothing showed up. What was the page it was on?
If you can find software to get it to work, I think that would be preferable. BUT if you cannot get it to run games, then I'd consider the modchip.
I think its value lies in its rarity, not its ability to be modded. If someone wants an Xbox to mod, they can get on ebay and pick one up for $100.
Tony, I think its value is certainly arbitrary. What do YOU feel its worth? In some ways, I'd value it more than a regular Xbox (if it runs games) and in some ways less. You're not going be able to "mod" your case if you're buying as somewhat of a collector's item, so that might limit its appeal. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Can you mod it with a solderless chip? Also, don't forget if you use the pin header method then you can always just remove the modchip when the time comes to get rid of it.
I personally don't know of any software that can help you out, but if I run across something I'll be sure to post.
Good luck in getting it to work.

I just thought of a HUGE problem with the Debug Kit. If you have to have a modchip to run games, how do you use Xbox Live?
I suspect that'll be the deal killer as far as getting a lot of money for one.
Do you suppose that the software needed to run games (if it even exists) would allow you to use Xbox Live? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I think I may have stumbled upon this "software" you're looking for. It was from a French language website and it's just the BIOS to flash a modchip with, so, once again, it appears we're back to the Xbox live issue.
Looks to me like if you want to run games, it'll have to get a modchip. If it needs a modchip, there'll be no Xbox Live. So if you're interested in selling it, I guess you'd have to ask yourself how much would you pay for a banned Xbox (one you couldn't use on Xbox Live) if there were no way to unban it?
I was considering permanently mounting one of my Xboxs in my minivan. Since I'd never use it on Xbox Live (not until I can afford a 200+ mile long ethernet cable), I could use a box like that. You interested in selling, Tony? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

if you could get ahold of an original M$ bios and flash it.. then wont it work on xbox live? just flash the tsop. then if you WANT TO USE A MOD CHIP, JUST MOD IT.... BUT THE THING THAT GETS ME IS THAT IT HAD TO BE USED FOR SOME THING.... HAVE YOU TRIED TO RUN COMPUTER PROGRAMS IN IT??? MAYBE THEY USED IT TO CREATE SOFTWARE....NEVER KNOW.. I WOULD DEFINATELY TRY... HAVE YOU AT LEAST OPENED IT UP TO SEE WHATS IN IT? _________________ XBOX360

The things I've read make it sound like one of the main uses was to run previews/early editions for reviewers at gaming magazines. I also read that it was intentionally designed NOT to run retail versions of games.
If you flash the TSOP, will it be easy to restore the debug kit's original functionality? If you can easily restore it to its original state, that would be a good way to go.
Anyone know if this would work and make it Xbox Live capable???? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I actually did decide to sell it, I just didn't want to have to do anything permanent to it incase I wanted to sell it later.

Holy Sheet, Man! It's up to $500! And some doggone respectable bidders, too!
Anyone know what this thing is capable of? It MUST do something we (or at least I) am not aware of! Either that, or the bidders are thinking it's something that it is not.
Anyone know of its surreptitious uses? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room
