Are you just trying to get your eeprom onto your PC? Because you could always copy it onto a memory card through a file browser and take it to your buddies that softmodded. He could get it onto his PC through his xbox, then IM/Email/punch card it to your PC. Round about, but its an option _________________

Ok, I have a brand new cable connected to my PC and Xbox, firewall disabled on my PC and TV connected to the box so I can see whats going on.
On the EvoX backend (the blue screen with all the settings on it) my IP says: 192.168.1.10, HOWEVER in EvoX program, my IP shows: 192.168.0.3??
I don't get that? Which one is it?
Either way, I still can't ping either IP, despite changing the PC's IP to match whatever address I'm pinging. Which screen should it be on when I attempt the ping?
Also, is there a way of backing up and installing a bigger HDD without having to connect box to PC? For example, I have a backup of the Xbox on CD, is there a way to get this onto the new bigger HDD without having connectivity between the two?
Really want to get this bigger drive installed, so all help/advice would be great.

I know you must have tried this, but I have to ask... Have you tried enabling DHCP on PC and use DHCP on Xbox then try ftp to whatever IP is displayed on your dash. Should be fairly simple in XP Pro. I have sucessfully connected my xbox directly to my laptop w/ a standard ethernet cable ( Not Crossover ) using this method. Works every time.

Sometimes it take a while for static ip to conect the first time, switch to dhcp and reset the network. I also hope you have FlashXP?

Yeah, have FlashFXP all ready to use, as soon as I get some ping activity. I'll try the DHCP and see if that makes any difference.
I assume the DHCP settings for the Xbox are in EvoX's backend? _________________

They are in the main setting menu. Should be blue with a tranparent background. Asks about clock and network and system and all that junk.

Yeah, thats what I thought. Ok, I'll change it in there and see if I get any joy.
Really want to get this new HDD in now, just got a 160Gb drive sat around doing nothing at the mo. If I knew I could create the HDD using the backup of the Xbox I have on CD, I could do it that way.

Just to clarify things for myself, what files is it I'd need to backup in order to image the new drive?
Is it the EEPRom, C: and E: drives? Is there anything else? Also, once I have those things backed up, what do I need to do to get them onto the new HDD? _________________

Yes, you only need to back-up the Eeprom, C and E: drives, and then use Xbhdm to make the .iso and burn that to a Dvd-r and then use this tutorial http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-185.html. or if you go the chimp way, you do not need to back-up anything.. and it does it all for you. chimp pretty much, clones everything to the new drive...

...and Chimp has to be installed as an App on the box yeah? How do I get it onto the box if I can't FTP? Can I transfer it via CD/DVD? _________________

At this point I think it's time for you to re-read this entire post.
You have been directed to several tutorials, offered suggestions and advice that can and should help you. Even Grevin's signture has links to several tutorials that can help.
It is important for you to carefully read each and every word of them.
The solution is there, just take your time and be patient.

Tutorial tells you how to use Chimp, not how to get it onto the box. _________________
