Will the softmodded xbox not see a dvd+r that has .avi and .mpg movie files burned on it? I was clearing space on my pc and copied some of these files to a dvd since its bigger but xbmc nor xbox will acknowledge a disk is even present in the drawer. Cdr and Cdrw work fine with these files, do the files burned to a dvd need to be Iso format to be seen?

Nope, Just the other day i just dropped some files on a Philips DVD+R and it worked perfectly.

Have you used this media (dvd) successfully before? http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=Xbox_Compatibility

Check that out to see if others have the same problem you are.
Just to make sure, You can only watch these in a media player like XBMC, you can't watch them in the MS Dash or other dashes (to the best of my knowledge, iI haven't heard anything, but I am sure someone will speak up)

Good Luck man, it will work eventually.

Just to make sure, did you put them on the disk in FATX format, with an xiso?

I don't think I ever converted it to FAT when I when on my Dell with XP, I would just burn with Nero in what i believe was NTFS.

My mac however burns in Fat for PC hybrid use.

Does nero burn FAT out of the box?

Using same brand of media I have in the past........ Im burning with Sonic. Heres the deal though, the process, file type, etc.....the program I use works when I burn to a cdrw but a dvd+r just spins and is not seen by the xbox or xbmc. Would it make a difference if I burned only .avi files together and .mpg files together, etc....... instead of mixing them on the same disk? As far as converting to FAT, I have never heard of needing to do this, Thanks for the help thus far guys........
