Ok, I opened my xbox to put in a bigger fan, which was a success. But when I opened it, there was a really bad odor... LOL! I keep the xbox on in the entertainment center which is open, and 2ft from the floor. Can it be dog hair?? I have 3 dogs that shed.. could it be that got in there and it stinks?? how could i get it out? open the case and use light air compressor and let it air out?? Any Comments are useful, Thanks Justin

I doubt its dog hair..
I have a cat and a dog which both shed alot of hair and none of my xboxes ever smell..
What sort of smell is it.. Something burning like hair..
That doesnt smell nice at all..

Modgod once posted pictures here of a Roach box.
it was covered in fried roaches and some live ones too. He had to take it out and fumigate it. Kinda nasty.
My guess would be some component might be frying itself, check to make sure you didn't get any wires underneath the ground contacts ont he motherboard where the screws go in. _________________ XBOX v1.6

i modded my mom's box. But before doing so, I opened it up to take a look inside. Man, was that a mistake. See, my mom lives in a shitty apartment, and neither her, nor her fiance take good care of themselves. While they do a pretty good job keeping the smell inside the apartment down, the xbox is a different story. The xbox can be like a refrigerator; it will hold the smells and scents that you get rid of outside (almost any sealed or closed electronic can). So, to rid yourself of this smell for a while, open up the case and let it run for a bit (just take the top off and let it run, play it, whatever) and enjoy your xbox as normal.
AFter a few hours of play and use, just close it back up (after giving it a good cleaning of course) and go at it. Chances are, the smells were just pent up from anything else that it grabbed a while back. Not saying your place stinks or anything like that, it's just funny how that can happen. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

OH! almost forgot. It MIGHT be component; check your xbox here to see if you need a replacement power cord. Your PSU might be frying. Don't worry, this doesn't cost a dime to you, they're doing it to ensure everyone's xbox experience is top notch, and no houses burn down in the middle of the night . _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
