this is the package I got ( Xenium ICE GOLD .... not SP ICE ) Very Happy

~~~~
after researching ... all I could find was guides towards SPICE ...etc ...
#1/
am I correct to understand that version 1.6 board required LPC rebuild no matter what ??? even with the gold package above ???
#2
another thing is ... out of all the pieces ( it covers multiple methods of installations ) ... I could not understand the usage of the "D0 wire loom" ( white connector with blue and black wire ) I believed the connector is supposed to go to the female end on the GOLD chip ! :p
#3
I can follow the guides about the white PCB connecting to the base ...etc ... by this method ... does that eliminates the pinheader altogether ??
( one odd thing I'd notice is ... there are 16 pins on the white PCB .... but on some of the guides ... it only shown 12 ... with 4 pins that we do not use ... mine got all 8 rows/columns x 2 ) ... Question Question should I just ignored the other 4 since we know that only 12 are used ??
#4
I want to use the USB adapter ... but could not find a pic showing how/where to connect it to on the board...help :p
that's all for now ... Thank you so much for the help ... this is such a friendly community .. reading through all the posts ... there are so many helpful personalities Wink
Please don't link to off site images, please just attach them with the attach function of the forum.
1) The 1.6 adapter that came with it emans you don't need to rebuild the lpc
2) It should allow you to disable the chip
3) The white is a solderless adapter, you use it instead of the pinheader, and no soldering
4) No idea, someone else can post about that
Its not where the image is hosted, its that its not on the xbox-hq.com server. When external images are linked it really slows the server down, hence the uploading.
As for the 16, thats normal for solderless adapters.
Hope that helps
If you have AID, what you do is just attach the new drive(jumpered CS), boot the xbox, and put AID. When aid loads, it will detect that the drive is empty and will format the drive. You can then use AID to install the dash, apps, emulators, etc. Then once thats done I would set the boot path in the xenium OS
And very glad to help.
Your going to have a hard time upgrading the DVD drive. It doesn't use a standard molex power connector, it uses a special one, and also has a couple of extra wires on it(detecting drive status, etc). What drive do you have now in it?
some quote from the "ICEGUIDE" page 25 of 65... this is why I got confused in the first place !!! Shocked Shocked
~~~

INSTALLING ON A v1.6 XBOX

On this version, it is highly recommended that you use the pinheader. This is
because the motherboard has been completely redesigned for this XBOX
version. The D0 points have been eliminated, the chipsets are different, there is
no TSOP, and the LPC needs to be rebuilt. The solderless adaptor will not work at all because of the physical changes. Also, while it would be technically
possible to do a quicksolder installation, this is not recommended due to the
number of additional jumper wires that are needed to rebuild the LPC port.

The wires used to rebuild the LPC port must be kept as short as possible for
system stability. Wires of excessive length can allow noise into the digital circuitry
of the XBOX causing freeze-ups and other aggravating behaviors. It is
recommended that Kynar insulated 30AWG “wire wrapping” wire be used for the
LPC rebuild.

At this point, you should: have familiarized yourself with the terms in the glossary,
know your XBOX version, your XBOX should be open and disassembled, you
have all tools and materials available, your Xenium ICE parts are all present and
accounted for. Let’s begin !

Philips drives are jsut fine, and I have yet to find some media that it will not read. The only real reason to replace a working drive is for better compatability with writable media.

Leaving it stock should be just fine, and has no cons that I know of.

If your gonna pimp out the box, you may want to look into LCDs, LEDs, and other case mods Smile

Obviously that part is a little outdated since the working solderless adapter was installed by you and is running the chip Smile
